Hahaha! What reality check did you use? At least you're starting to do some in your dreams.. your bound to realise you're dreaming sooner or later

You only started doing it yesterday?

Maybe your subconscious hasn't caught onto the importance of reality checks; or maybe when you do an RC in the back of your mind you already have a preconcieved answer (that you're not dreaming), so even when it DOES work in a dream, the connection isn't made.

Give it time, and use at least three RCs.

We all do dumb things in our dreams now and then. In some lucid dreams we are not as aware as in real life. (Just last night I had a string of lucids/false awakenings because I thought I was asleep in school, when really I was in bed the whole time.)

Welcome to Dream Views Oldbiker! That's cool that you already did an RC in your dream.

I've failed to believe the RC's a couple times myself.( Because of the dream being so real.) So I've learned to use a combination. My favorite is the nose RC. So far its' never failed me. But I've failed to believe it now and then.

Now when that happens I will also push my finger through the palm of my hand. Using that combination has worked wonders for me.

yeah, the combo is defineatly the way to go. the nose one has failed on me a few times but the combination usually makes up for it. a few nights ago i head a dream where i did the RC when running so i was out of breath. i couldnt tell if i could inhale because it has hard to breathe anyway. then the hand one worked. generally the hand one fails for me though. i guess it is all on personal preference. i go for the throat, nose, and hand generally. and doing a RC in a dream is actually fun for me. like it feels cool to breathe through your nose.

with the more practice you do with RCing, the more likely it will work you will actually become lucid once one works...or is it fails? i can never tell. when the RC tells you that you are dreaming.

      enough rambling...

As MrDoom stated, you could have set the answer in the back of your mind already as a "this is reality". (though he stated it much better. ) When you do a reality check, REALLY question reality. Don't make it a "habbit" that you just do to be done with it, really ask yourself if you are dreaming when you do a RC. Also, an RC that has never failed for me is counting my fingers. I always end up with 3 or 6 in my dreams. My ultimate combinatin is nose-plug, count-fingers, then try putting my finger through my hand. I don't have many LD's but when I do RC's in them, they never fail.

Doing multiple checks is also what I employ to get lucid. The ones I usually use are the finger counting(they are also sometimes unusual lengths), time checking, and reading small print. Rarely fails...when I do them.
Awesome that you already did some reality checks in a dream, it took me well over a month to do that.
