      first lucid, first false awakening

First of all, hello everyone. I have been going through this forum for quite a while now, without registering. Now that I had my first lucid experience I would like to join you.

I remember last night, or should I say morning (I went to sleep at 6 a.m.), I had the strong wish to become lucid that very night. I did not really use my internal voice to convince myself, it was just a strong emotion. I don't remember the part of the dream where I was not lucid. The first thing I remember of the dream is that I was staring at my hands at a Metro station. I immediately recognized that they were not looking the same as they look during wake time. Wooosh, I became lucid.

A couple of weeks ago I realized I was in a dream and woke up the next moment. This time I was prepared. I did not check to feel if my body is lying in bed, rather I started to look at my surroundings. Soon, my focus had become very strong and I was very confident in my success. I don't want to go through the whole dream because I don't remember much and I know it was not something extraordinary. The only thing that is very funny is that during the whole experience I was reminding myself to not forget to wake up as soon as I feel that I'm losing control. At some point I realized the time had come, so I tried to wake myself up. As I woke up I started sharing the whole story with my girlfriend. I remember that I even had problems remembering a lot back then. After I told her I must have lost it.

At 2pm I finally woke up to realize that my mind had played a trick on me and nothing about my experience had been said. I also realized that now I remember very little but the feeling that I have done cool stuff remains. I'm looking forward to tonight and hope the best.

Finally, I want to thank you all for the words of wisdom that were spoken in this forum and for the confidence you have given me. I will put great effort in dream recall for the next couple of weeks. I want to make sure that next time such an overwhelming experience happens to me I will remember it.

      Hey Knack!

Good you decided to register, you are now part of the friendly community (slash, the group of guys in the corner playing cards). Good to see your first Lucid was a False Awakening, there should be a name for that. Anyway, that's good because you have now earned some good experience in Lucid Dreaming!

Also, you might want to start your own little Dream Journal on here, so you can record your dreams and share them if you wish. It's really easy, just read the introduction and you'll be fine. The link is here - Click

If you want to know more about Reality Checking, which is what you may need to know more about, specially for False Awakenings, the link for that is here - Click

Other than that, there's a lot of tutorials more than False Awakenings and Reality Checking, here - Click

Again, it's good of you to join the community, hope to see you around, friend!

(Oh and don't worry, the bit about the boys playing cards was a joke, we're much bigger than that, by far!)

Welcome to Dream Views Knack! And Welcome to Lucidity! we're glad to have you.

I liked how you described when you became Lucid. "Woosh!" I love that feeling when it washes over you like that.

My next dream after a lucid is often like you described. I will end up telling somebody all about the Lucid I just had. It's good to bring that excitement into the next dream. That often causes me to have multiple Lucids in a night.

next time I wake for real

yes, the woosh thing feels as if another part of you brain is switched on. I hope next time I'm able to wake up directly after or while I'm lucid so I can remember more. Dream recall is still pretty lousy.

      to Dream Views, Knack

Congrats on the lucid. I always get fooled by the "tell someone your dream false awakening". FAs are really common after a lucid dream, so be sure to always do a reality check when you wake up from one.

Lets hope you have a ton more.
