      Angry Maintaining Lucidity

I had my second lucid dream last night, but I totally botched it.

Basically I was just sitting at my computer while watching TV to the side of me. The movie 'Iron Man' was being shown on TV - this made me realise that I was dreaming (it only just came out in the cinema, and no I haven't seen it yet).

So I got up, walked into the kitchen (which is roughly 5 metres away) and started waking up. My initial impulse was to close my eyes and spin around (as per advice from this forum), but I woke up anyway.

Is this a common occurrence for people who aren't very experienced with LD ?

It's very common to lose lucidity when you're not used to staying in the dream.

Next time you become lucid, rub your hands together and/or start walking. Focus on how your dream body feels and keep moving. Also, before you go to bed, think about what you want to do when you become lucid. That way, when you become lucid, you won't have to waste time thinking about what you hope to accomplish.

Closing your eyes will wake you up. I recommend trying to chain lucid dreams. Allow yourself to wake up, but don't open your eyes or move, lay perfectly still for twenty seconds or so, then open your eyes. You may not be in the same dream, but you should still be dreaming. You will probably be in your bed, but this is just a false awakening.

Not 100% of time, I'd say about 40% of the time I'm unable to wake up by closing of the eyes.
