      Hello

Hello my name is Andrew I am in highschool. I've been lucid dreaming naturally for quite sometime now but I never really realized it was any special talent or out of the ordinary until I started discussing dreams with friends. I would estimate in the average week I spend 3 or 4 nights lucid dreaming, but without having any reality checks. In many of my dreams I start dreaming and am already lucid. A lot of my dreams I feel have to follow some sort of script, I guess that's a good word for it, I have to follow it and the other characters or actors I guess don't know it's only a dream and I'm forbiden from telling them. Many of my dreams deal with philosophy and I often come to some great realization in my dreams (meaning of life, ect.) but have trouble recalling these when I wake, or they make no sense outside of the dream state. Something else about my dreams I am curious if others experience this is that some times my dreams span long periods of time, anywhere from an hour to a week. I also dream non-lucid sometimes. Sometimes what I dream and the prior day mix together in my memory, it's hard to explain. Like when I wake up I will remember my day going like; I go to school, I have a conversation with someone that actually happened in my dream then I go to work (which happened in real life). I have trouble seperating what happened in a dream and outside it. Anyway sorry to ramble on. I am really interested in finding out about other's experiences.

I'll address these in backwards order since that's how I remember them

Deja vu is often attributed to dreams. It happens to a lot of of.

The meaning of life: Lucid dreams are an altered state of consciousness, I wouldn't put it past your alters state to come up with some weird stuff. You can come to great realizations when you're drunk or high too that turn out not to pan out all that well.

Most of the time without being told that you can break character and just fly away with the scene you will just go with the dream. Ironically, the more experienced lucid dreamers stop flying away and see what the dream is building up to If you're climbing a mountain and become lucid: a newbie would keep climbing because he's supposed to, a fairly experienced dreamer would jump off a cliff and fly away, and a really experienced lucid dreamer would keep climbing because they want to see what they are climbing for

Lots of my lucid dreams start without doing reality checks, I just have a "conscious shift" and know that I'm dreaming. At that time it's very common for me to completely forget the pre-lucid part of the dream so that when I wake up it seems as if I had been lucid from the start, even thought that I hadn't been.

      Lastly, to DV!

It sounds like you have some great dreams. Do you currently keep a dream journal? You can always start one online:

I would love to read about your "meaning of life" type realizations. I find these are often either hilarious, ridiculous, or surprisingly thoughtful. Either way, they are interesting to keep track of.

You are lucky to be a natural lucid dreamer, or have figured this out on your own. If you have any special tricks you have come up with, please share so we can all steal them from you
