      Hello all :)

Hey all , i'm from Belgium. And i've always bin interested in dreams. I heard my friends talk about it , long vivid dreams. Not lucid tho. This brings me to my first point/question: I almost never remember my dreams , and when I do it are short not vivid and i'm not aware of anything.

Also I must say that i'm a very deep sleeper. My girlfriend says it takes alot to get me awake. I sleep through mobile phone alarm clocks , regular alarm clocks , people calling my mobile phone (and sound on max). So how come some people sleep very lightly and some very deep? And is this ( my deep sleeping ) the reason why my dreams are short and i'm totally not aware.

Is there some way to not sleep that deep? Because its becoming frustrating ( coming to late on alot of things simply because I don't hear my alarm clock ).

      Thx.

      Hi! Welcome to DV.

I highly recommend getting yourself a Dream Journal. It's the best way to get better at recalling your dreams. I've had one for a week now and I'm remembering my dreams now when I hadn't for years before.

You can use a notebook or online notepad, or you can make your own Dream Journal here in the forums:

      http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...splay.php?f=26

If you want to keep your journal private, you can instead make on here:

With time you won't just be remembering your dreams like you've read a book and are remembering bits from it; you will remember your time in the dream and when you wake as well.

As for the second question, I'm not sure of that answer. I don't think that your deep sleeping effects your dreaming though.

You might consider consulting a doctor if it's very serious. If you sleep really really deep, what if you slept through a house fire or burglary? Could be serious.

Another possibility is of why some people sleep deeper than other is that you aren't actually going any deeper than us light sleepers, you're mind just disconnects more from your real body. In my sleep I can pretty much hear everything that's going on around me, because my ears stay well connected to my brain, maybe yours just disconnects much more.

I'm not sure about the deep sleeping. Besides tricks like leaving the light on or leaving music playing, I don't know any permanent solutions. Try experimenting with a few things, and let us know what you come up with.

What works best for me, is to set a pen and notebook right by my bed with a flashlight. Before going to sleep, I set my intention to wake up after every dream and record it. Telling myself this before I fall asleep increases my recall like crazy.

Definitely! I forgot about that one. I've been waking up on my own because of sleeping troubles, but if I tell myself before bed that I will recall my dreams, I'm able to roll over (after turning on my low lantern light) and jot down what I remember before going back to sleep. If I don't remember at that time (because I'm to sleepy to think), I'm usually able to remember enough when I officially wake up.

Insaniteh, you might read this thread on how autosuggestion works for other people:

Thx for the reply's everyone , I actually am writing my short dreams down. I have bin having more (short) dreams. Which is quite nice. I have bin telling myself every night right before sleep ' i want to remember my dreams ' or ' i want to wake up right after the dream ' or something like that. Any more tips I can try or do? Because sleep was always boring , I had so many night ( probably 95% ) when I fall asleep next thing I know its morning and I need to wake up. And I started thinking , you sleep probably 30% or more of your life. So why wouldn't you want to be able to control your dreams? I think its like some kind of virtual reality where you can do anything so I really wanna learn it :p
