      Was this a LD?

Firstly I'd like to introduce myself. Ive been lurking here for about a month. A few weeks ago I started to keep a dream journal. My recall is up to about 1-3 dreams per night, although I do have days when I cant remember anything. I guess this is down to waking up in the wrong part of my REM cycle.

So anyway, this morning I wake up and cant remember any dreams. I thought that maybe I should experiment with the WILD technique, just to see how it feels. I knew I wouldnt get far but I managed about 20 minutes of lying still. I think I could begin to see some HI appearing as well. I ended up snapping out of it, so I just went to sleep normally. I was thinking about one of my PC games that I was playing the night before (unreal tournament 2004, for those who are interested). Next thing I know Im dreaming that Im playing it. Nothing unusual, this happens quite alot.

In the game in my dream (I hope this makes sense) I look at the countdown timer and see its at 930 minutes. Which doesnt happen in real life, so I begin to wonder whats going on. I look again and now its 300 minutes. I look once more and its changed to 500 minutes. So I conclude that this is, in fact, a dream. Ive reached this stage before, but last time I got too excited and woke up. In my dream-game, Ive switched to a new map but I can feel myself losing lucidity. Its like Im still aware of my real body lying in bed, but can feel my dream body sinking down towards it. I remember reading here that you should shout "increase lucidity!" in this situation. So I do, and feel myself begin to stablise in the dream. I try the spin-on-the-spot method, but end up just standing there, wobbling.

And this is the first time Ive ever been in a stable lucid. I dont think it was terribly strong, but I was definately in control. Since I know Im in a computer game dream, I try to spawn a vehicle for myself. I just point to the ground and think about it, and it appears. But then it blows up, so I try again. This time, I point to the ground and shout "spawn a manta there!" and it actually works. I get in and start to fly about the map in it. At this point I think I began to lose lucidity, since I dont remember being in as much control of everything. It turns into a regular dream for a while and then I wake up.

Well thats my first lucid experience. I remember having a few LDs when I was younger, but they were the ones where you only know its a dream, but cant do anything about it.
