      Hi. welcome to me!

      Basically, I can lucid dream. I was trawling the internet looking for the science behind it and found that basically, scientists are a bit 'whut the..?' about the whole sleep thing let along lucid dreaming. Then one thing lead to another and I found this forum, thought I might sign up. Oh I forget, hi everyone!

      The scientific community pretty much accepts the validty of lucid dreaming (except for those nay-sayers that say it's an inherent paradox). Look up LaBerge's studies for some good tests on lucidity.

      What we haven't really pinpointed yet is the reason behind the dream. Sure, we can say dreaming has "subconscious value," or that it has "memory consolidation abilities," but we can't narrow it down much more at the moment.
