These images are called hypnogogic imagery. If you focus too much on them, you could end up falling asleep, as you described!

It doesn't matter what you focus on, as long as you keep the thought of entering a dream in your mind. If the images were to occur for enough time, and under the right circumstances, they'd intensify and you'd successfully enter a dream.

Well, thank you very much .. I hope it will help me to have my first LD.. but unfortunately that I alway sleep while looking at them .
