      Hi

Hello i'm new here. Have been interested in LDing and OBE for some time, although have yet to fully succeed in either. I remember experiencing states similiar to those described when i was younger, but didn't fully understand the possibilities then.

I had some success two nights ago, i have wrote the following out the following day to post on here (but my email was down so couldn't activate right away) Anyway here it is.

      Monday 21st July

Settled down and relaxed in bed about 4-5am. Lighting conditions were
low, with little sound to distract. My body felt tired/relaxed yet my
mind felt alert. I believe this is the state required for results.

After laying still and slowing my breathing, using 4/2 pattern, i
started to enter a meditative state. I began to sense impressions of
something in my minds eye, at first they were fleeting, but solidified
to the extent that i was able to identify a racing track with perhaps 3
or 4 cars visible, i noticed one was red, one blue and one green.

It is important to point out that prior to sleep i had
spent some time prior to going to bed playing a racing game on my Xbox
      360. This links with accounts i had read from Robert Monroe and others
who observed a re-run of activities prior to sleep when entering the
      hynogogic state.

Immediately after i recognised the impressions i
began trying to feel what it would be like being inside the red car,
what it would feel like to be driving in that race. I think i was
trying too hard and at this point began to get excited at my sudden
progress. At this point i lost touch of the vision and fell back into
a relaxed state. I then had the second experience described below
      before falling asleep.

After relaxing again after the images faded i felt a tingling,
almost buzzing sensation in my lower legs and feet. I remembered
many references to the vibrations as being closely related to Lucid
dreaming and OBE, both of which i am trying to achieve. I tried to
increase the vibrations and their location, attempting to spread them,
i had some success and had images of electrical charges firing down my
body, and again i lost focus.

I have been trying for a long time to lucid dream or project, but have
had only fleeting results. However on this occasion i noticed i was
thinking more positivlely, i was convinced i "knew" something was going
to happen this time to give me the motivation to continue. Many have
said that belief is key, and it makes sense. When you go seeking
knowledge, and it is presented to you it must be believed to be
accepted as fact, without belief in it you dont regard it as knowledge.
      It is merely dismissed.

There was a time when it was common belief that the world was flat,
however someone believed that it was not the case, that it was round.
It was the belief of those who thought it other than flat that lead
to the knowledge This may not be the best example but the only one
i can think of at the moment.

Anyway i'm getting off the point, what i'm trying to say is it seems
belief effects your success. And even at this point i am still unsure
of the possibilities off Lucid dreaming and OBE's, belief helped me get
      a step closer.

How close would anyone say i was to success? (i know its different to judge as its different for each individual, but generally speaking)

I'd say u were pretty far into a wake initiated lucid dream (wild). There are a few stages after the ones you have described (the buzzing sensstions). It is hard to tell though because it is different for many ppl. For example, I personally never see h.I when I wild. Also, I think ur having a similiar problem to me. The reason u can never reach that end result of a lucid dream is because ur subconsciously getting excited because this is new and u cannot avoid this until you have done it enough times to get used to it. The best time to wild is during an afternoon nap by the way.

I will give it a go during an afternoon nap then when i next get chance. Also that vision i described, does that stabilise as you wild and become similiar to normal vision?

Stability comes from focus. Focus on something that is constant (your hands) and your world should stabilize.

The next time i get the imagery instead of trying to imagine it too much i will try just focusing on one part casually and see what happens
