Hello everyone, my name is Mike. Glad to be here....I was specifically looking for this type of forum and just found it yesterday. I really need a community of dreamers to converse with to push my practice along. I believe that dreaming is always happening, I need only be conscious of it. It is that consciousness that I seek. I've had several lucid dreams, half lucid dreams,...and other types of curious dreams. I've noticed that some dreams occur in the same "world" or "realm"....where everything in that place holds something in common. I have a number of these different places that I seem to travel to from time to time. And so I have begun to categorize types of dreams (though largely untrained in common dreamer language...I use mostly my own). I have had 1. Unconscious dreams (although I remember parts of them I didn't know I was dreaming). 2. Unconscious dreams in "worlds" or "realms" that seem familiar after waking 3. Lucid dreams in which I have tried to bring in my physical body (thereby creating much stress - from fear without body - not knowing how to move. 4. Dreams that begin lucid and then merge into unconscious dreams (I must forget that I know I am dreaming). This last one is to me that most interesting and confusing.
I've gotten decent at securing a method for lucid dreaming however, after obtaining lucidity for a few nights in a row I eventually have a really intense experience that scares me enough to hault my dreamin practices for months. Eventually I get back into it again.
I suppose that's enough....for now. Can't wait to get to know you folks. I'd be interested in experimenting with sharing dreams at some point, as well as more than open to the idea of dreaming for divine purpose....do tell

Hello, i am also new here and seeking similiar things, although have yet to have my true breakthrough experience (so far i have only got so far, and am yet to have a full lucid)

What have you done during most of your lucids, and what experience put you off. I had one similiar, i was completly relaxed, then felt as if i sank through the bed, next thing i knew i was in water, and some weird deep sea looking creature was coming towards me mouth open, i woke up suddenly heart pounding lol

Hello Animus. Because of the way I precieved lucid dreaming previously, most of my lucid dreams were me trying to use my physical body in lucid state...usually I am standing in a room somewhere and I either can't move, or I start tipping around like a drunkard. It is although my feet could drag along the floor in any direction...then, due to lack of control (which is funny that I don't realize I have complete control) I usually spiral in or out of the dream.. What I mean is that my body will become parallel to the floor and start spinning in a spiraling direction either up towards the celing or sink through the floor...then I wake. I had one experience where I was in a place I call "the corridor" it has so far just been darkness with the awareness that I am about to dream. From here I an choose anything. The only time I made it here I got so excited I chose the first thing that came into my head and ran with it, afraid I might wake up. I chose to fly. I started seeing a red blob that I convinced myself was a cloud, which then actually did turn into a cloud and then clouds were everywhere. I hit some kind of membrane or something becuase all of the sudden I popped into the most real experience I've ever had. I was flying in the air towards the sun, over the coast on the most beautiful day ever. I was completely elated...I lost control when I started floating higher and higher and needed to develop a technique to bring myself down. I was afraid going higher meant I would wake up (like in my other lucids). I created a hand gesture which I decided would bring my down....and it did! ....although it brought me all the way down to the ground and my dream conciousness shifted and I entered into an out of my control dream which was steeped in some great meaning I only grasped for a few moments after waking.
What usually throws me off is fear and triggers. Triggers keep me from grasping awareness and fear wakes me up.

to DV, eyesofthemirror. It sounds like you have a lot of great experience. I can't wait to hear more about it. We've got a variety of members, from those who are just learning to lucid dream, to others who have been doing it for years.

Have you checked out the Dream Journal section?

It is a good place to keep a record of your experiences.

I like the way you have categorized the different levels of dreaming. The dreams I like best are the ones where I'm lucid, but I continue to let the dream play out. Some strange plots develop when I team up to work with my dream world.

What sort of intense experiences have you had that scared you off dreaming? Are you talking about sleep paralysis type experiences? Or freaky explorations of really 'far out' realms?

Robot Butler, thanks for the welcome. These links look helpful. What do I mean by experiences that scare me off? Well, usually it is fear from realizing that I do not have my body with me and that I do not know how to move my "light body" (if you will). The funny thing about this though, is it seems like I've overlooked the fact that (given lucidity) I have complete control, and shouldn't have to try.
