      Hi, I'm Lynn...

I just thought I'd make a bit of an intro.

I'm Lynn, 15, residing in the US. I think it was two days ago when I googled something along the lines of "dream control" when I was super-bored (a not-so-rare occurence this summer, unfortunately). I came across dreamviews and lucid dreaming. I read through the site and found it all... fascinating, really.

I believe I lucid dreamed once before, a loooong time ago, in a dream involving myself and a ten foot tall spider. I just realized I was dreaming and woke myself up, not really even thinking about what i could do in a dream once I knew I was dreaming. Silly me. I've never done it since then, though.

For the past three nights, I've been keeping a dream journal. I think just telling myself I'll remember a dream and making a dream journal has made me remember my dreams better. Since I'm asleep by midnight, I've been setting my alarm to six, trying to remember a dream, and then falling back asleep. I've been remembering two dreams a night, which is good compared to how I used to only remembering a dream every now and then, I guess.

Well, I suppose I just babbled a bit. Sorry about that. Anyway, what are the best ways to DILD? I've been telling myself before I go to bed that I will know I'm dreaming, and about every two hours yesterday, I did the finger-through-palm reality check thing, but... I just don't know. Is WILD easier? Any advice is appreicated! Thanks!

Love the site, love the forum.
      -Lynn

      to DV!

It's great that you keep a DJ and that you're doing RCs. Both are great ways to DILD. I'd say to try WILD when you think your ready; it's one of the more elusive methods. But BillyBob has a new, simplified WILD Tutorial if you want to give it a shot.

      See you around!

I think you're on the right track. Especially if you're recalling a couple dreams every night. I think the easiest way to DILD is by doing what you are already doing, with a Wake Back To Bed. What do you do at 6am when you remember your dreams? Do you just fall right back to sleep? Do you get up for the day?

I tell myself, "The next thing I see will be a dream. The next thing that happens, will be a dream, ect." That direct phrasing seems to work best for me.

Have you checked out the MILD technique?

Make sure you don't overlook other induction methods. The success of each method varies by individual, so if one seems to not work...try another!

To answer you question 'is wild easier' I would say that in terms of being succesful, yes, because wild is much more effective. The actual method is harder of course, because u sorta don't do anything in a dild u just tell itself ur gonna know ur dreaming next time u have a dream. Wilds can be difficult to achieve for some and many ppl have questions and problems with it. If u do, you can usually find a solution from this forum. Otherwise I'm always willing to help so u can email me at [email protected]. Hope this helps. Also, beware of false awakenings!

I just wake up for a couple of seconds and try to remember the drem I had, and jot down anything I do remeber. Then I fall back asleep, getting another 2 hours, usually. Now that I think of it, doing what you're saying makes a lot of sense. I'll try that tonight.

I also skimmed over the MILD thing, I think, but I'll go back and check it out.
      Thanks!

This brief awakening would be the perfect time to really focus on returning to a lucid dream. You will be close to another long REM cycle, and tired enough where you don't have to relax your body. Thats why WBTB works so well.

It is, but you become more aware. Plus, you don't know if the time you set it for is gonna be right before your next REM. It's better to wake up naturally, as you normally do this after each REM cycle (sometimes you don't conciously remember this though!).

      No problem.

And as you can see from my post count/join date, I'm still a newbie. I just spent 2 straight days cramming this knowledge in my head.
