Question A Hello and one little Question :3

Hello, I'm new here, i found out about Lucid Dreaming about a week ago, and it has held my attention ever since..
I have yet to achieve Lucidity, but aspiring to do so soon

      Question:
How long are lucid dreams perceived to last? I mean, I've read journal entries and such and they're really short and sweet, now i guess this could be down to not everything being recorded, but do dreams progress in 'real time' or are they over and done with in a matter of minutes?

      - Thanks

      This is what I think.
Dreams are just a compilation of pictures, but we percieve them as super real.
i.e. in one dream I felt the hair on my head, and I remember distinctly that it felt as real as it could.
With that said, I believe that we percieve dreams to last 5-15 minuts, but in reality it could have been a couple of seconds.

I've had a few (rare) dreams where they seemed to last several full days when in fact I'd only been asleep for a couple of hours. As far as lucid dreams go, most the time they're somewhat short for me. This seems to be due more to losing lucidity than waking up (except when I was new to lucid dreaming and would wake myself up from getting too excited). However, I have had a few pretty long lucids. (A couple examples from my dream journal; Wednesday Night, 9-19-07 and Sunday Night 9-23-07 )
"When you see the shadows falling,
When you hear that cold wind calling,
Hold on tight to your dream."
