New To the Forum, But Not Lucid Dreams

General Info: 19, male, from Jersey, in college

Anywho, for the past several years I've been having incredibly lucid dreams. My degree of control over events and surroundings is nil, but I have a good degree of control over actions, which basically turns my dreams into a story that I'm a part of.

The thing is, while the story changes from dream to dream, the location is pretty cohesive. In fact, I've been able to construct a map of my "dreamland" by piecing together where places are in proximity to each other. It basically consists of a major city on the north side of a river, and a bunch of surrounding suburbs south of the river.

I know lucid dreaming isn't super rare, but how rare is it to have dreams fit together topographically like this?

to DV DaveNJ! I know my lucid dreams aren't based on a map, to me its pretty amazing that you have a map of your 'dreamworld'. I am unable to exert control over my surroundings as well, I can control my actions though.
Question: Which came first, the chicken or the egg?
      Answer: Neither, single-celled organisms did.

That would be interesting to have a stable dream world like that. Do you try to keep it that way? Or does it just happen naturally?

I don't have a lot of recurring environments. Locations from my past pop up a lot. Maybe it is one of those expectation-based things where once you start looking for a cohesive world, you will find one. Sounds cool.

Are you an artist? It would be awesome to draw or model your dream map somehow. I did this for a while a couple years ago.

There's no effort involved. This just comes completely naturally to me.

As for art, it's not my gift. I can create rough maps using symbols and whatnot, but the environment is simply too big to create even one contiguous piece of art. My best guess is that this area is the size of at least ten towns and a major city.

welcome DaveNj. you're like me not new to lding but new to the forum. that sounds awesome about your dreamworld. my ld's all seem to take place in familier surrondings, like my house or my work. i'm always thinking about creating a beach enviornment, but never remember in my dreams.
you just shot an unarmed man!
well he should've armed himself if he's going to decorate his saloon with my friend.

It's not a common thing, but I've heard of a few people with recurring dreamlands. I remember one person whose dreams occured on an island, with things like a jungle that's bigger on the inside than the outside, and a giant gameboy. There were a few others, but I don't remember the details of their environments.

I've never had dreams like that, if anything, mine are totally the opposite, with scenery changing while I'm still in the dream, like from my kitchen to a campsite without me noticing.
