      Sort of New

Hey. I'm new to the site and in some senses, to lucid dreaming, but not exactly. The first time I recall being lucid in a dream was- I believe- in middle school or the first few years of high school. I'm in my mid-20's now. After that first one, it was a long time before I remember having another one. Years.

The first one was the most lucid I've ever been in my dreams. In many dreams, even when lucid, I don't seem to be as logical or clear headed as usual. Sometimes I even have what I call, dream logic (not exactly the most realistic), but I am aware I am in a dream. Sometimes it occurs to me to take control, but at times I seem only partially in control. That first time, though, I felt very logical, as though I were thinking as I would while awake, but I must have gotten startled because the dream ended soon after realization.

I have never intentionally had a lucid dream. They just happen occasionally. Although I've never intentionally had one, once when I woke from a dream, I didn't get out of bed and just started surfacing from sleep (can't recall if I woke up completely, but I was realizing I was waking from a dream) and I went back to sleep not wanting to leave the dream. When I went back to sleep, I was aware it was a dream and tried controlling certain aspects of it.

So, I'm not adept at inducing these dreams in myself and the one experience of falling back asleep thinking of the dream was the closest I've been to willing one. I wasn't trying to have an lucid dream. I was simply trying to return to the dream, and doing so gave me some lucidity. I think that was also the only time I've been able to choose to slip back into a dream, but I'm not sure. I only get lucid dreams occasionally, and I still need to work on controlling them when I do get them. Yet, the first one happened years ago. So, I don't know whether to say I'm a newbie or not.

I would like to be able to have a LD in which I was as lucid as I was in the first one I had- the one I messed up by being startled. I'd also like to have an OBE.

to Dreamviews. The first step to constant lucid dreams is to start a dream journal and begin working on your recall. Otherwise, you might end up having a lucid dream, and forgetting all about it! While working on recall, try a variety of methods to induce lucid dreams. WBTB is a great one for beginners, and it's one of my favorites. WILD is another one you should look into. Just a warning though, it's fairly challenging. Read this guide for even more help.

OBEs are a very strange weird experience. it is exactely what it says it is haha you have a gift for being able to LD so easy i have to really work on it my advice to you would be to have a dream journal and you seem like the person would be very good at WBTB or a WILD do some research on both and every other method and see which one is best for you and read all of the info on the front page i am here for any questions or comments you have i am here to help!!! hahah

Thanks Pastulio. I have recorded some dreams, but sadly not on a regular basis, like I should have been. And I haven't done this in awhile. I have a dream journal just for this purpose though, that still needs written in. I think I'll try one of these methods for lucid dreaming the next time I go to sleep. Thanks for the well wishes and the link. I looked it over.

Thanks Reesespieces. I would love to have an OBE, though I'm a little afraid. I'm also excited about the possibility. I used to record my dreams every once in awhile, but not regularly like I should have and I haven't in awhile. I need to start back. Thanks for the advice and offering to help me.

I think being familiar with the feeling of a lucid dream is an important part of learning to do it at will. Having had lucids in the past should be a benefit, because you have a clear idea of what your goal is.
