      Steriotypical "Another Newbie :)" topic

So, yeah. I'm new here. This is the part where I'm supposed to say hi and ask a question that could be better answered by searching. I've been semi-lucid a few times but every time everything was really fuzzy and it only lasted about 30 seconds. I had a 5 minute lucid last night, but I don't know if it was just a dream about being lucid, which has happened a few times before. It seemed like a totally normal part of the dream, so that's why I'm not sure. I'm a pretty heavy sleeper, and I tend to sleep in a lot. I seriously need to cut back on sleep. On weekends I can sleep for 12 hours. It's sad. I also sleep so heavy that alarm clocks don't work if they aren't timed right. Like I said, it's sad. Anyway, hi everybody! I'm gonna keep trying for a lucid, etc. etc.

And I suppose that this would be about the time I welcomed you to the Dreamviews forums, answered your question, reminded you to read the rules, etc -- but that isn't really needed. Two questions I will ask though are do you keep a DJ and how good is your Recall.
Remember from where you came, and stay true to your ideals. There is no place for those who have lost their souls.

to DV! Check out the Tutorial Section and specifically the DILD tutorial. You should also check out the homepage sections about reality checks and dream signs. Feel free to ask question.

I don't keep a dream journal yet, but my recall is pretty good. 2-3 dreams a night in most cases, and if the dream is out of the ordinary then I have almost perfect recall of it. I am planning on starting a journal ASAP, though, so you don't need to stress the importance. I've been lurking for a week or two so I get the idea. I've been doing reality checks pretty regularly, but there's plenty of room for improvement. Annoyingly, not that much weird stuff happens to me that makes me think "reality check". How many times do you guys do reality checks during the day (on average, obviously)? I've been trying to WILD and got pretty close the other night (still only blackness, but I was unaware of my body and was still fully conscious, and I could hear weird sounds). My aforementioned semi-lucids have all been mid-morning WBTBs. Anyway, thanks for the welcome! See you real soon!

I do reality checks whenever I think about it. I don't normally wait for something strange to happen. I think excercising you prospective memory to 'remember to remember' to do a reality check is very imporant. It keeps lucid dreaming on your mind and helps you remember to be more aware. Just heightening your awareness during the day should carry over into your dreams.

An important thing you could start focusing on is paying attention to your natural midnight awakenings. Try to realize when you wake up during the night. Again, this helps you be more aware of how you sleep, and brings attention to your dreams.
