      Is lucid dreaming often unhealthy?

Not that I do it often(wished it though), but sometimes my brain feels like a squeezed lemon after a long and/or intensive dream. I'm still feeling it a little after recalling my dream for my first journal entry this morning. Does LDing or even just dreaming itself have any negative effect on the body or mind?

Dreaming (of any kind) is a necessary and normal (and yes, healthy) part of how the body and mind work. Infact, failure to dream over an extended period of time can lead to psychosis.

Lucid dreaming works just like a normal dream when it comes to the functions of dreams, so LDs won't harm your mind in any way.

I suspect that you are unusually talented at recalling emotions and sensations. This can be both a great thing and an inconvenience. It means tha you probably find it easy to get caught up in books, TV shows and movies. You probably feel slightly disoriented and like things are un-real when you walk out of a movie theater or look up from reading a really enteresting book. This emotion and sensation spill-over is normal for some people.

Does this sound like what you are describing?

Nope, there are people here who lucid dream multiple times every night and they are perfectly fine.

I don't know if this is what Mr Zen is describing, but I know that that happens a lot to me (especially if I'm sleep deprived). For instance, when the seventh Harry Potter book came out, I stayed up all night reading it and finally went to bed (on a very uncomfortable and hot couch) at 11:24 the next morning, meaning I had been awake for about 27 hours. I woke up 2 hours later after an extraordinarily vivid dream having something to do with me being Harry Potter. I can't remember exactly what the dream was about, but I had the feeling that my parents had died in a car accident/been killed (a little bit of both) and I wandered around my house for about 15 minutes feeling extraordinarily depressed and unreal until I found my dad in the garage. Then I was all better.

My best advice to you, Mr Zen, is to get at least some control over your dreams so that you can have happy, energetic dreams and therefore wake up happy and energetic. Another idea would be to look at http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...t=63231&page=3, which might make you feel amazingly rested after LDing.

Yes, dreaming is extremely unhealthy. Our members tend to drop like flies due to dream overdose. In fact, the average life expectancy for a new member here is only about 6 months...

Thanks for the replies guys...seeker, I'm not too sure about that since I'm not a fan of books, and movies are a bit to short to have a lingering effect. But unusually talented...I'm flattered.

And thanks for the advice, Graech. I thought I was going to have brain juice falling out of my ear if I dreamt too much lol.

It does not. Reason Y you feel that way is because you din't sleep well.
