Yep that sounds like a version of SP. Why do you want to actively try to induce SP? As far as I know, it's something that naturally either happens to you or it doesn't.

SP comes in all different shapes and sizes, really.

I don't think there's a way to "induce" SP. I could be wrong.

What a coincidence. I just wrote up some steps for another thread on inducing SP.

      1) Have no desire to go to the bathroom, eat, drink, or other things that would require you to move.

      2) Lay down in a comfortable spot. I tend to turn my head so that I don't have to swallow spit very often.

      3) Remain completely still. Don't move anything. If you feel a scratch or light pain it is most likely your brain trying to 'trick' your body into moving. It does this to determine if you are awake or asleep. Try to clear your mind as best you can and keep your eyes still.

      4) After awhile you should notice some changes in your body. You may feel tingling, or lose some feeling in certain limbs. Remember should you move now you will break the SP. (Note: I still swallow on occasion and I don't see it messing up the process too much.)

      5) Something will hit you. You might feel your thoughts change or you'll get a falling sensation. Once you have achieved this I believe you are officially in sleep paralysis.

A note that it can either be very easy to fall asleep in this state, or impossible to do so. It's best to go to bed at the right time so a happy medium can be achieved. I have yet to do this effectively.

      Good luck!

^ That's the thing GA, I highly doubt that someone who has never experienced SP of any kind will suddenly do so if they follow steps like that. I, for one, have never experienced the frightening type of SP, and I doubt that I will ever be able to induce it.

But.. I haven't actively tried, sooo....

Well worked for me first time. Worth a pitch at least. I do see where you're coming from Mes. It still scares me sometimes. Whenever I want to come out all it takes is a sudden attempt in movement, and I'm free.

The real question is learning the practical uses of inducing SP. WILDS still elude my grasp these days.

The real question is learning the practical uses of inducing SP. WILDS still elude my grasp these days.
Having had a rapid succession of "not voulentary" SP's, Im here to learn as much as I can bout.. pretty much everything surrounding sleep, be it SP or LD.
Having had comfirmation about what I have had, its most defenetly SP. There is clearly a difference between knowing what is happening and understanding what it is, and.. well.. not knowing..
Experiencing a SP now knowing what it is, its most defenetly the sickest thing I have ever felt, it's not that quite amusing..
Now that I know, I want too.. no, I need to have one asap again, see if it really makes a difference knowing. See if I can stay calm and not panic.

So my question is, isnt some form of SP needed to complete a successfull WILD? It's one part of the stages to get lucidity to a dream? Or am I mistaken?

I had a shot at WILD last night, sleept for about 6 hours (I woke up like 6-7 times before Ive slept the full 6 hours, I dont know why, propably jizzed up). After the 6 hours, I had a quick leak and hopped back to bed. I didnt quite manage it, beeing my first time, Im faar to impatient, oh and, that damn radiator; making all the ruckus..
Anyhoo, I did tho get to the stage where I would sort of, spin, feel dizzy, my limbs are kinda numb. That little experience that is pretty cool, I've experience the same things before and it freaked me out then, I would always immediatly moved in bed and shift position to shake it off.
Now this time, now that I knew what it was, and I guess expected it at some level; wow, awesome. I want more..

Byt beyond that, Im faar to impatient, I cant stop myself from moving, the urge is just to great at some point. That paired with the second problem, at one stage I seem to have a little problem breathing. I have no prolem up to that point, but it seems I cant get enough air, it's not like Im choking, its just slighly uncomfortable. Am I stressed?

When im high and close my eyes and usually my body starts vibrating and feels like im falling through my bed. I didnt know what happened the 1st time, but i try to get that every time now it feels great. I now know that it must be SP. The 1st few times i closed my eyes and focused on the images my mind made and it felt and looked like i was getting further away from them. I find that it also helps to have music on and focus on that.

For me it's like being really drunk. Or too drunk. When I'm too drunk when I lay down I feel like my body is moving a lot.

Sometimes I get a numb feeling in the back of my head and after that I could move my head around to look. Then everything gets really bright and I can move around.

Most of the time I go right into the dream and I'm falling and I end up somewhere. And I usually go through the ground and fall again to go other places.

It's funny seeing the reactions when you go halfway through the ground. It's a weird feeling too.

Okongo, I think I know what you mean. Getting used to just falling was easy, but later I had dreams where I couldn't move, it's definitely not fun. And I don't think you have to experience SP before going into a WILD. I don't know if it's because I'm a natural or not, but sometimes I randomly go right into a lucid dream. There is probably a SP transition, but I don't really notice it.

I don't have many lucid dreams though. They are usually pretty random. I think I may have only had WILDs randomly, maybe one or two while trying.

It's different for other people, but that's the best way I can describe it.

TVs are fun trying to get into.

I actually just had one more SP experience last night, I woke up duing the night and notices the time, decided to sleep some more. Not long after that I could feel someting seriously weird starting with my body, it was starting to vibrate and I could hear a large pitch noise. My first reaction was to wake up and shake it off, but I manage to keep myself calm and telling myself to take it easy, wow.. Only lasted for a few more seconds, then I actually got over excited and it was over, eyes open stairing at my wall... Anyhoo, wow - Experiencing SP while knowing what it is.. is awesome, compared to; not knowing what it is

Btw, visiting these forums among other sites, learning about SP in general, among other sleep related stuff; has been very very helpfull, Im a grown man, mid 20's, and after my first SP I sleept with the lights on.. I know its silly..
Anyhoo, now.. Knowledge is power, I have absolutely no problems getting the apartment dark before bed. Yai little me is growing up.. hehehe..

I like to sleep with the lights on because I feel like it helps me get to the part of SP where it gets really bright. A scene usually forms and I can walk around and look around.

Sometimes I fall asleep with the TV on and have dreams about what is on TV. This has been happening for a long time now, but maybe I could try to recognize that as a dream sign. Usually I suddenly realize I'm dreaming, without any weird cause, so it might be hard to get used to it.

I usually get SP when I am extremely tired and I can actually feel myself falling asleep. Like I am completely aware during the turning point from wake to sleep. And right when I go into it I get the chills over my body and I can't move but I can see right in front of me. Before I said it used to scare me but now I'm fine with it because I learned how to get out of it. It's as simple as just trying to go back to sleep. Just close your eyes and forget about trying to struggle out of it.

SP happens to everyone, all it is is a chemical your brain that sets off during sleep that keeps your body from moving. if the chemical wasn't put off of your brain then whatever you did in your dream you'd do in real life. what you experienced sounds like SP, and there are other feelings you'll get from it to.

      Worked for me

After struggling to become lucid when sleeping over the past couple of months I tried GestaltAlteration's technique last night. It worked first time for me and ultimately led to a lucid dream.

I'm really fascinated by SP, sleep cycles and stuff, so I loved every minute of it. Cheers.
