Well, this is my 2nd lucid.

      Sorry for my English.
I went to bed at 8:30. I set an alarm clock for 12.00 am, because I have growth of my prostate so I can go to the bathroom and then go back to sleep. I did not hear the alarm clock. Instead I was having those stupid dreams that do not have any sense. Like I was seeing an elephant painting and picking things from a wall, using his trump as it was a hand. Even the elephant was able to use a stapler. After that the elephant was not an elephant any more but a child. At 4 in the morning I went to the bathroom and I was a little angry because I was not able to realize that I was dreaming even when all those no sense things were happening in my dreams. But then something happened. I was falling sleep and I realized that I was dreaming. I had a long lucid dream in which I had controlled of everything. I am not going to relate the dream buy I need to ask you a few questions about lucid dreams.
      a) During the whole dream I was in total control of my dream. At the same time I was able to stop the dream, being awake and going back to dream again. Is it that possible?
      b) At any time I was listening to some talking, but when I stopped the dream for the first time I realized that those voices were part of my dreaming.
      c) At any time I was listening to those voices, but I was able to hear real sounds like the one for a fan running close to my bed. I even was able to hear the sound of a watch that I had set on purpose for 4:30 am. I heard the alarm, but I decided to continue with my dream.
      d) At any time I knew that I could stop the dream like I did a few minutes later.
So my question is: I think lucid dreaming is more like a state of self hypnosis and is is not a real dream. What do you think about this?

Yes, I did it several times. I wake up, but instead of thinking of anything else I try to remember and see the dream, I only try to think of the dream, the feelings, everything. Sometimes those thoughts "carry over" back in the dream.

I think sometimes you weren't in a "real dream" but just having imagery on the onset of dreaming.

P.S. Enjoy your journey in the dreamworld.

My mom is 50. She's had 6 lucid dreams since June, but she doesn't do any techniques. She doesn't know any of the techniques, she RARELY does reality checks, she does not keep a dream journal (I keep one for her because she tells me, then forgets hers), does not come onto this website, etc. She loves sleeping and dreaming though and has at least ~3 dreams recalled per night.

I like to think that she has lucids just because I'm always babbling about them to her, she only had a couple as a child until April, when I really got into LDing and wouldn't stop talking about it

So imagine, if you put in the effort, YES you can have lucids and you'll probably have a LOT! Just like everyone else

Another threads on this topic http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...&highlight=age

On another note, I really like how many of the members here think that 40 is old... Wow. Too much LDing, you guys have a very strange sense of reality!

Yes. Its possible. My grandmother had one a few weeks ago! I'm happy fo her, as she has bad nightmares from her childhood. Though, it seems that everyone I know is having lucid dreams but me!!! (I have never had one. :[)
