      I actually had one!

Ok I am posting this topic here, because of the questions I have, but I also posted it in a dream journal to help me recall them tomorrow, I hope that this is ok.

MY GOD I FINALLY DID IT! Hey guys, n gals, you are now reading something from (well at least I think) the newest lucid dreamer! I did it I did it...I knew I was going to have an awake SP tonight. All evening I have been drifting off, like during watching tv, and stuff like that, and as soon as I did, I would get like a short day dream.
When that happens, I usually have an awake SP, that night, so all night I have been preparing for it. Sure enough, I went to bed..watched a movie, (which I kept nodding in, and out of consciousness), the movie ended, I turned it off, and then, about five minutes later, I awoke, and couldn't move, and then came the vibrations, (which did not last as long, as they normally do) I went into a dream, but I was not sure if it was a dream at first, so the first thing I did, was plug my nose....What do you know...My god! I can breathe...I remember that this was an awesome feeling....(Actually I just did it again, to make sure I was really documenting this lol.) I ran out of my bedroom, and I still checked on the kids....habit I guess lol.....ran out side, and up to my dads house, to tell him I was dreaming...(dreams are so weird), but suddenly I was snapped back into my body, where I was still in SP, but I went back into a dream, and it was shorter then the first. I do have some questions to people that have SP. Well just one actually. Does any one else have problems grinding their teeth in SP? If so what do you do?
I am so SIKED I am now part of the lucid community! YEA ME!

EDIT #1 Also being half a sleep now writing this, I forgot one of my questions I had. Do lucid dreams get longer, and more clear as you get more of them, because my first one I had tonight, was very dark, and very short. Same with both dreams I had actually!

      Congratulations!!

What you described is a classic WILD. That is one of the most commonly tried and most commonly failed LD techiques. So you deserve some serious kudos! Awesome job!

It is really normal for your first several LDs to be kind of vague or unclear and to be short, but rest assured that they do get longer and clearer with time and experience.

Your question about teeth-grinding during SP is a little more difficult. You should lay still and then feel the sensations of SP starting. They can feel like just about anything from mild tingling to having an elephant bouncing up and down on your chest. If it is SP then you really AREN'T grinding your teeth -- it only feels that way. This is totally fine and normal, although annoying. If you really ARE physcially grinding your teeth (which can be hard to determine for sure) then something has gone wrong and you're not in SP yet. If you determine that it is just SP and it only feels like you are grinding your teeth then just try to ignor it, as it will pass. If you determine you are actually grinding your teeth then stop and try again.

Well I do know that I grind my teeth at night, I have done this ever since I was a kid, and it really felt like I was grinding my teeth. I had a sleep study, and they said that I clentch my jaws together all through out the night. So I don't really know, if I was or it just felt like it, the last couple of times I have been in SP, it sure felt that way.

Maybe you should look into getting one of those protective night mouth guard thingies. Basically it is a soft piece of gel or plastic you put in between your teeth so you don't cause any damage or headaches if you grind your teeth at night.

Wow! Congratulations. Neat that you know when you will enter SP. That should be a huge help in figuring out what works for making you lucid.

Your dreams should get more vivid as you work on increasing your dream recall. It may only be your memory of the dream that is dark. Being shocked out of your lucid and back into your body should lessen as you have more lucid dreams, and become more comfortable with that wacky feeling.

I wear a mouth guard when I sleep, because all my front teeth are fake. I don't know if I was grinding my teeth before, but I have since noticed that my teeth are far less sensitive to hot and cold. It was uncomfortable at first, and took some getting used to. Now I don't even notice wearing it anymore. They say wearing a mouth piece is one of the best things you can do for your teeth. Or maybe that's just dentist propaganda to sell more mouth guards.
