      New here and to dreaming

      Hi
I've only recently discovered lucid dreaming but when I told someone in real life about it they looekd at me like some kinda freak
Anyhow, I've only had 2 lucid dreams in my life (if it's what I think they are)
Basically the first one was a few months ago when I'd drank alot the night before and was sleeping during hangover, I started dreaming about having a dream, and this kinda happened 3 times, but within the dream I was dreaming that I couldn't wake up.. if that makes sense. I think this happened 2 or 3 times, I'm guessing that's a lucid? Cause it seemed so real. Although I just put it down to the alcohol.
Also, a few nights ago I was reading up about lucid's just before I went to bed. Read a few websites and experiences (which is when I realised my previous dream may have been lucid). I went to bed and about 3 AM I woke up. But as soon as I woke up, I remember instantly thinking about having a lucid dream. As soon as I thought that I felt myself kinda lift away from my body. Which is when I shit myself and woke myself up, cause I think it really was happening. I'm intrigued to see what it's like but I'm too much of a pansy to let it happen!
Were my experiences lucid's? or am I still a lucid V?
Also, is it normal for males to feel interested in lucid dreams? Or is it mainly a female thing?
      Oh my name's Matt btw
      Thanks

      Hey

Hey, New to posting to the forums here but not to LDing. This is my first post, woohoo. It sounds to me like you were close to LDing and very close to a WILD with the event you described when you woke up at 3am. Basically imo the litmus test for a LD is this: Were you aware that you were dreaming? If not then it may be a normal dream or a pre-lucid. Sounds like you are well on your way to getting a LD though. As far as the male/female thing I wouldnt worry about that very much with repects to LDing or anything else in life for that matter. If you're interested in something don't worry about if its a male or female thing. Its your thing.

      Hi
      Cheers for ya reply
I'm 99% sure I became lucid that one morning. Like I say I woke up and for some reason I immediately thought about being lucid (guess it was on my mind) (I'm 100% sure it wasn't a dream as I remember waking up and seeing my room which was reality) and I instantly felt some kind of weird change, hard to describe, I barely remember it, but I remember struggling to move for a split second, which is when I woke up feeling shit-up, lol. Just kinda felt abit weird, I think maybe if it happens again I might just let it happen and we see what happens.

      Hey Matt Welcome to DV

It sounds to me like you are still a lucid virgin, unfortunately. I say this because you didn't really state that at any time during these dreams, you KNEW that you were dreaming. To be a lucid dream, you have to realize that it is a dream while you are still dreaming.

But, your experience at 3 AM sounds like a false awakening to me, in which you realized you were in a lucid dream. Did you simply think about lucid dreaming, or did you think that you were in a dream? The fact that things immediately started to happen suggests to me that you were in false awakening, an actual dream itself, and not really awake. Since you said you woke yourself up, it sounds like you were asleep still and not really awake. I may be interpreting it incorrectly. If you realized that you'd 'woken up' but were actually just dreaming that you'd woken up, well then it would be a lucid dream. Either way, sounds like you were very, very close to achieving lucidity

I definitely don't think that it's a girls-only sort of thing. If anything, I think of it the other way around. I know there have been polls and etc. on the site, but I think the best way to judge it is to look at active posters on DV, and just look underneath their avatar to see what their sex is. There are a lot of male and a lot of female members, I don't think it's an either-or kind of thing
