W.I.L.D. - Is that what happened?

Hi everyone, I've just recently stumbled on your website and it brang back memories from July. And I just read your section on Wake-Intiated Lucid Dreams and I want to share a story and get your feedback.

In July my brother always woke me up when I was still tired...I noticed that I'd quickly fall back asleep and I would Always have a dream...Not knowing about Lucid dreaming I always thought I could control dreams without a dream journal or anything.

So in late July 2004 (like always) my brother wakes me up, I get up, and start falling asleep again...but during this I started to focus on "I will ride rollercoasters in my dream" and it was all black for a while, then It happened:

I started to fall asleep but I could still feel that I was awake, I was saying to myself (ok, this is a dream...I'm still awake though, I'm still awake over and over again in my head) I could feel that I was awake but I still had a dream and could control it. It was amazing...It was diffrent then a lucid dream becuase I was sure I wasn't asleep becuase I still was aware that I was still in bed.

I've done this 3 times since then but eventually gave up on it. Today I started keeping a dream journal and remembered this....could anybody say what happened? was this really a W.I.L.D.?

      Thank you.

i think its more like half a WILD. You went halfway but didnt go all the way. I think what you were experiencing was perhaps hynogagic imagery or maybe you were in a hypnotic state or at the borderline of sleep and waking

Curiosity killed the cat but at least it didnt die an ignorant bastard

I think my LDs are somewhat similar to those you have. I often can wake up from an LD and fall back asleep into the same LD or a different one. On several occassions I have even been able to open my eyes a tiny bit and see my room while I was sleeping and still be having a lucid dream. And alot of times I've been able to hear and see people around me and still be having an LD. (I shared a dorm room with three other people when I first began having lucids) Its really strange but really cool. As far as whether or not you are having WILDS or whatever (I don't like the way they classify LDs) it doesn't really matter as long as youre LDing.
