      You can't really describe that.

The best description would be: it feels like waking life.

      You can't tell the difference.

if you consciously know that you are asleep and dreaming, you are lucid.
if you can pull that off while simply daydreaming, then awesome. but you arent technically "lucid".

a dreamer said it right, it feels like you are awake. yet youre asleep. lucid dreaming is full of contradictory things like this, you just have to experience them for yourself!

      Welcome to Dream Views, Hera.

It's called Hypnagogic Imagery, and it can be a great way to induce lucidity.

The difference between HI and lucid dreaming is that HI usually consists of fleeting images or sounds. They can be pretty immersive, at times, but are usually much less static than full-blown dreams. Lucid dreaming happens when you are fully dreaming. It can be just as realistic (or even much more vivid) than real life. At a good level of lucidity, it feels just like you feel when you're awake.

At times, it's almost impossible to distinguish between the dream state and the awakened state - you just have the hunch that you're dreaming.

At other times, though, it can feel "hyper-real" (You can feel the trees around you as if they are a part of you; etc), and your emotions run much more deeply than they do while you're awake. It can be the most exhilarating thing you've ever felt.

On the forums you may also see the acronym HH, Hypnogogic Hallucination. They don't have to just be imagery, they can be of any sense.

Lucid dreams are just like regular dreams except that you know it's a dream. Unlike HH, you are unaware of your real body and can run and jump and fly all you want.

I think I know what Hera's talking about. Before you are asleep, when you can't stop thinking and yur mind is wandering. Eventually in a daydream scenario you may completely lose connection with your waking body (this often resulting in falling awake wen you remember that this is just your imagination). Correct me if I'm wrong about what you were talking about, Hera, or any of you if this is actually considered dreaming. It would be nice to find out this is actually considered dreaming by forum consensus.

Some lucid dreams feel like day dreaming thoughts, they are not clear and it feels like you imagine everything.

Some other lucid dreams feel like you overdosed something and you exist in a totally new world where you are god. And it doesn't feel like your imagination at all.
