Lucid dream slash encounter with dream world?

      Hello guys,

Since this is my first post, I've decided to say a bit about myself. My name is Anthony, I'm just a pretty normal person I suppose, and had my share of good dreams, bad dreams, and strange dreams... I am 18 years old and learned about Lucid dreaming in school. It sounded like one of the greatest things on this earth. You're capable of doing whatever you want?! It sounds awesome. I then started researching a bit online and realized it's a lot harder then I thought. I found out it takes a long time to "master" and there are many techniques. I would love to learn to Lucid Dream, and maybe I'll start some day soon. As for now, I googeled a forum to tell a bit about a dream I had. Because I use to have quite a few dreams, and then i stopped having or remembering dreams for a while. Untill.. This most recent dream I had, which was like nothing I've ever experienced before.

I don't know what you're capable of doing in a dream. As a matter of fact, I don't know much about them; after this recent dream, i am starting to think, the amount of things that are possible... Are countless.

I will try and give as much details as possible to give you the best idea..
Like every other night, I lay in bed and fall asleep (eventually, it always takes me about an hour or two). And so we begin.. I am in this hallway... It's a very dark and long hallway. The ceiling wasn't too high, maybe 8 feet, and 6 feet wide. I cannot see the beginning, nor the end. The floor and walls are solid, however the environment was "swampy or gloomy". I wasn't scared, but rather confused. Wondering where I was, I continued down the hall. I could not figure out where I was. And all of a sudden, I hear a strange noise. A very loud noise, a turn around to look down the hall and I see a creature. This creature looked like The Hulk. But in dog form. Crouched over on all 4 legs. Taking up all of the hallway. This creature was green, and the muscles were very easily seen. He was jacked. He started chasing me. Sprinting on 4 legs really quickly. I started running as fast as I could down the hallway. I'm running for about 10 seconds when I hear a loud crashing sound. Like a metal fence. I turn around and see a fence came through the ceiling, and into the floor. Acting as a block in the hall. The creature was halted in his tracks behind this fence. He was shaking it and screaming. The fence was bending. I walked over and started taunting him. I felt pretty safe. Until the cage broke down and he leaped for me. I immediately opened my eyes and awoke in bed.

I was very tired and just rolled over and closed my eyes once more. Almost instantly I was back in the same dream! Now I know I am dreaming.. So as the creature runs towards me, just before he reaches me I open my eyes again. Again, I awake... So excited at what I have just done, I try and close my eyes and fall asleep again. It was a little harder this time but I was able to do it. I'm back in the same dream and dodge the beast once more! Awake, and manage to fall asleep again. Yes.. I am back in the hallway. But this time, the beast is no where to be seen. I know I am in a dream and I don't feel as "deep" as I did before. I feel like I could awake any minute. So I decided to explore this dream world, I walked around for a bit, but there was nothing special to look at.. So I looked around for something to mark myself with. Just to see if I could bring something into the real world. There was nothing!

Eventually I touched the wall, it became "liquidy" and I was able to put my arm through the wall, I said to myself, what do I want to pull out of this wall? I decided on a orange marker, pulled my hand back and I was holding an orange marker. I took the cap off the marker and opened my left hand. I made a strait line on my hand from the top left of my hand just under my index finger to the bottom right of my palm. I looked around once more, dropped the marker, and opened my eyes.

I was awake, in my bed, and sat up. I pulled the sheets off of me and lifted my left arm. Turned my hand over and opened my fist. Sure enough.. There was an orange line on my hand, from the top left to the bottom right. My mind was officially, blown. I ran around screaming for my parents, to tell them the news; they weren't home. I tried washing the line off my hand, and part of it wouldn't go away. I had that line for about 2 days after that.

Now, I am thinking of 2 variables that could explain this experience... 1, At some point before that night, I marked my hand by accident, but didn't think anything of it, and was only aware of this, subconsciously. And the dream "accounted for it" or whatever..
Or 2, I made some strange encounter with dream world!

I am glad I found this forum, I hope to read some insight, thoughts, or similar experiences. And begin learning how to dream more and begin "Lucid Dreaming" on demand.

-- I didn't read any stickies, I hope I am posting in the right place and not braking any rules.. Please be kind

      Thank You,
      Anthony

      welcome!

i'm sure it's the first one, sorry. it's an awesome dream nonetheless!

it sounds like you're a natural man, either that or it was a "good" night, meaning that everything was perfect for you to have a lucid dream (i.e. you thought a lot about it, REM rebound, etc.)

hope to hear more from you

Hmm, interesting, but this dream occurred before I knew about lucid dreaming. And I have yet to learn about REM rebound? Or infact, REM..

Anyway, I hope to learn soon and master the skills to explore other worlds !

The thing about lucid dreams is that there are no limits. You can do whatever you want. You could have pulled a cannon out of your pocket and shot the beast, or you could have made it put on a pink tutu. It is hard to just make things happen sometimes though. I'll use the pink tutu for an example ( just more fun that way ). You could snap your fingers and a puff of smoke would come around the beast. When it was gone, it would be wearing the tutu. Or you could have just closed your eyes and opened them again. Also, the only way you could have had some experience with the dream world would be if it was something natural. For example, if there was a red line on your hand, you brain might send blood to that part of your hand in the same pattern to make it red. I have a theory that if somebody was deep enough ( VERY deep into sleep ), then they could be cut. After they woke up, their body might have pulled the skin apart to simulate that cut. Anybody tell me if they think this is possible.

Many natural LD's before that though.

      LD goals:
Be an escapee from some kind of prison, break out Gordon Freeman style

      Survive a zombie apocalypse

Fly in a low altitude air race

Explore the ocean ( I have a fear of water in real life, especially if I'm thrown in. I'm fine swimming in a pool, but not in the ocean )

Get into some kind of medieval fight

Destroy a city with an Iron-Man suit

See Metallica play all of my favorite songs, along with my other favorite bands

      and that's it for now

      yeah so you're a natural

REM (rapid eye movement, is a stage of sleep where you dream the most.). REM rebound is when you have lack of the REM stage of sleep, and your body makes up for it by giving you more REM sleep. hence the name. i hope that answers your questions.

Very intersting dreams, Anthony. It sounds like you did what is called a DEILD (tutoiral here). DEILD is also known as dream chaining, since you can return to your last dream over and over.

Depending on what you believe, it may or may not be possible that you brought the orange mark back from your dream. If you want to brave the weird and murky waters, maybe go check out the Beyond Dreaming section and see what the folks over there think of your dream.

I'm not sure if I'd call you a "natural." To me it depends on if you've had more lucid dreams than the ones you mention. But I don't even know if there is an agreed upon definition of a natural! Personally I think a natural is someone who has had multiple lucid dreams, often before they even know about lucid dreams. And they may become lucid spontaneously in a dream or they may stumble upon some technique that causes lucid dreams on their own.

I don't want to all of a sudden jump on this site and claim i'm a natural and blah blah blah, but I did have a lot of lucid dreams when I was a kid, and i've become lucid in the middle of regular dreams before, but i've never stumbled upon a technique on my own. So I woulden't say i'm a natural, but I have had a good share of LD already. Well, I'm not sure if you could call them lucid, I was in control but only to a certain extent. I couldn't change the scenery, or do anything out of the ordinary, like be magic or fly places. I just made my own decisions on where to go and stuff..

Also, may I just ask, is it ok for me to want to learn about Lucid Dreaming for the sole purpose of having fun? Like playing a video game? Like, I know people LD to get over there problems, or ease conflicts or for medical reasons or whatever.. But I just want to do it to have fun.. Is that ok?

Also what are these things I always see people say: wilds, filds, hilds, dilds, mfgs, vilds, fa? I've searched some stickies.. but im clueless

Thanks for all the interesting input!

Since you've been LDing on your own for years, I'd say you sound like a natural to me.

Yep, it is fine to LD just for the kicks. Lots of people do.

Here is the acronym list you need.

The logical side of me would have to agree with everyone else and say that it was probably option one. But then again...I want to believe. I was reading a cool book about Lucid Dreaming that you might want to check out...

Lucid Dreaming - Gateway to the Inner Self
      Waggoner, Robert

It has some examples of dream experiences carrying over to the waking world, but usually related to natural processes like the above user posted. Still, the line between "reality" and dreams seems blurry sometimes and would like to know what other people think about this. For example, I've read of cases where out of body experiences verify the presence of objects in the waking world without any prior knowledge. Can anybody help me expand upon this?
