      Had an opening and botched!

So, I was having a dream and me and some other people were outside watching a tornado roll by in the distance.

It began turning towards us and we all ran inside and went for cover. I've lived in Tornado Alley before, so I knew the best place to be was in the bathtub with a mattress covering me.

As soon as I got in to the tub, I said to myself, completely random out of nowhere, "I'm DREAMING!"

Well, I screwed up. I became too excited and attempted dream control on a level I probably wasn't ready for. Either that or I was simply too excited.

It's strange, because I could FEEL the very fabric of my dream world dissipating, it felt like a snow storm inside my head. My dream vision became hazy, and the next thing I knew my eyes were open and I was staring at my desk.

I think I'm starting to get closer and closer!

      Haha, congrats!
And don't sweat it too much, almost everyone has that problem with their first few LDs (unless they were a natural as a kid I suppose)

I can't really think of any decent advice to stop being excited, it just takes some practice.
But one way to keep the dream stable is to heighten your experience of it ... run your hands over the floor and feel every little bump, taste the air, etc

At least that works for me sometimes.. but maybe that's the wrong approach for this, as the dream is probably already very vivid, not deep and sluggish.

So yeah, I reckon it's just a matter of practice

Unless otherwise stated, views expressed in this post are not necessarily representative of the official Dream Views stance. Hell, it's probably not even representative of me.

'Grats on becoming lucid, Baphomet. And welcome to the site!

As far as the fogginess, yep, I understand that feeling precisely. As you said, your getting closer. That will go away eventually.

That type of forced contorl that you are talking about always stands to harm the dream clairity, so you would be wise to use it sparingly.

But good work so far, keep it up. It's good to have you on the site!

      See you around the forums.

Thanks for the replies and welcomes guys. I'd been a lurker here for a while, gaining loads of information from all of the tutorials and wealth of advice from other users.

Dreaming has really been a great release for the stress involved in my life recently, and it's aided me greatly in moving on from being hurt and such.

I anticipate learning from dream characters a great deal....and of course, eventually, fighting a jedi to the death!

      Heh.
