      Hi!! I'm a Newbie :]

Hi Everyone! My name is Anakaren and I want to learn how to have lucid dreams
      Where do I Begin.....
A couple a months ago my best friend told me about lucid dreaming. So I said, "No way that sounds too amazing, it's impossible." Then she went on saying how you can take these pills to have lucid dreams. At this point I said there is no way I am going to take some foreign substances to harm my body. After that the subject was dropped.

      A couple a days ago...
I was reading a story that metioned lucid dreaming. So I decided to do some more research on it. I read that I didn't have to take some weird "pills" to have these kinds of dreams. I got so excited about this I spent the last three days doing more research and talking to some of the psych teachers in my school.

I honestly don't remember my dreams at all when I wake up. Maybe it's because I only sleep about 5 hours on weekdays. Most of the times I don't dream. The only time that I do dream is during the weekends or during the summer when I sleep a lot. I want to fix that.

I made my first attempt of keeping a dream journal last night, but I also experienced a weird dream. I think it was lucid but I'm not sure. It happened after I got up in the middle of the night.

      My dream...
I woke up in my bed and I looked around. Everything looked normal because whenever i wake up i turn on the tv and the lights. I tried doing a reality check. So I looked over the tv to check the time. I checked a few seconds later and it was a different time! I said to myself "I must be dreaming!" At this point I got excited and got out of bed. Then everything started to fade! I did two fast spins and everything got clear again. I walked towards the living room and I jumped/flew out of the window! I landed perfectly on the street and though "Cool". I then told myself, "I want to go to Florida." I suddenly started flying up towards the sky (superman style) and then started descending into an ocean. I start seeing fish everywhere! When I got out of the water I saw a colorful map of the US ( I was IN the map.) Then I woke up.
Was this a lucid dream? Or was it my mind tricking me in some way because i keep wanting and thinking to have a lucid dream?

Sorry for such a long post!

      Welcome to DV Anakaren!

Congratz on your first lucid dream! You knew it was a dream, so yes, it was definitely a lucid dream. After that you consciously did some things so it sounds like you even had good control of it. Good job at staying in the LD when it started to fade too.

That was most definatly a lucid dream. Glad to hear you've had suck QUICK success with the Reality Check (RC) method.. never worked for me. You're lucky!

No strongs pills involved.. it's all using the power of your mind. If you've already had such an amazing lucid dream like that your first try, and successfully incorperated a reality check, spinning (to gain dream conscienceness), and flying.. you're definatly on the right path.

      Welcome to forums.

Wow, that sounds like a great dream. You should thank your friend for introducing you to lucid dreaming. It sounds like you have a knack for it, and you never even knew.

Wooo for your first lucid so quickly! I'm sure there will be many more to follow Remember to try to stay calm and just take in your surroundings for a moment when you become lucid.
