      SP

For the past week I've been experiencing sleep paralysis every night before sleep. Before, it would be maybe once a week or less.

For me, sleep paralysis is the best way for me to enter a lucid dream, but i have work early in the morning, so i just want to rest. Also, during my sleep paralysis, my hallucinations are becoming scarier. The audio hallucinations used to just be loud noises, but now I'm starting to hear people talk. And it feels like they're opening the door and coming into my room. I understand it's a hallucination, but damn, it's still scares me.

Sleep Paralysis is different for everyone, but yeah, you can use Sleep Paralysis as a way to do a WILD (Wake intiated Lucid Dream).

I think this would belong in the general dream discussion though...

Well, the lucid dreamer in me wants to tell you to enjoy it. Read up on some WILD tutorials, and see if you can turn this curse into a blessing. I used to suffer from terrible sleep paralysis. I had the frightening hallucinations, demonic presences, ect. Now I still have those episodes, but I turn them into amazing dreams. Read my latest DJ entry, for example

Unofortunately, from your post, it sounds like this is unintentional and unwanted sleep paralysis. I think you might want to talk to a doctor or sleep specialist. Someone who could make sure its not a side effect of some medication or mental illness. I'm sure its not, but if you're worried, you should talk to someone just to get piece of mind. Once you know you're clear from anything bad or serious, maybe it will be easier to relax and enjoy it.

i don't think it's a curse at all. it's just i don't have time to lucid dream, because when one lucid dreams, you're using your conscious mind to control it. therefore i won't get a good night sleep. =/ but maybe i should just enjoy it, if there's nothing else i can do haha. thanks.

Lucid dreams provide just as much rest as regular dreams. They may take some extra time if you decide to use Wake Back To Bed, but otherwise you sleep and dream the same amount of time. Actually, I find I sleep more when I am focused on becoming lucid. I am excited about dreaming, so I manage to get to bed earlier.
