Keep at it, and try adjusting your midnight alarm time. You want to wake yourself up right after a dream, so it is fresh in your mind.
You can also try waking up in the middle of the night without an alarm. It is normal for people to wake up after every REM cycle anyways. If you can remember to notice this natural awakening, you should catch some dream memories. Tell yourself as you are falling asleep at night, "I will wake up after every dream and write it down." Then picture yourself doing just that.
Don't get frustrated. You are building new habits. It takes a little practice.
