      this sucks! please read

last night i was dreaming as usual and at one point one of my dream characters actually came up to me and told me im dreaming. but it still carried on like a normal dream. i had no control wot so ever. i was thinking maybe ill never LD because thats the most blatantly obvious dream symbol i can think of! someone actually telling you "YOUR DREAMING!" n still not go lucid. its freaked me out now
when did the lucid dream begin?

Happens all the time. America could blow up in my face and I'd be all like "America just exploded? That's nice."

Usually you clue in when something wierd happens or you do an RC. Just train yourself for RCs during the day when things pique your interest and it will become so ingrained that you'll do them when things happen in a dream too.

yes quite. it does seem a bit stupid of us to be told we are dreaming and still not catch on! i read about someone on here once who saw a poster saying 'are you dreaming' and didnt even catch on then! - its almost as if we dont want to know we are dreaming! - ask yourself this: were you in a good dream? was it so good that you didnt want to be dreaming (you wanted it to be real) ? - if so then that could be why you didnt catch on... - try becomming lucid when you get a nightmare or a horrible situation in a dream - it works for me! good luck xxxxx

I don't know what inspired your user name, but perhaps your inability to take control could be attributed to something your user name describes. my belief at the moment is that we are all more than one person-- there is the person you are at the moment, and there is the person that has always been and will always be. Someone else may call this your conscious self and subconscious self, respectively. Anyway, blah blah blah, perhaps the person you are at the moment really really REEEEALLLY wants to break into lucid dreaming, but for some reason, your subconscious or eternal or whatever-you-wanna-call-it self just isn't ready yet. Are you afraid of your own possible creations (if you take control of a dream, you may accidentally produce a monster like the sta-puff guy in ghostbusters) or is it a fear of the unknown (if you lucid dream, you may accidentally die by flying into a light or you may encounter situations or characters you wouldn't want to meet in the waking world.) My suggestion is you tell yourself over and over when you're awake as often as you can, whenever you think about it, "it's all in my head. i'm safe and in total control." eventually, your subconscious will accept this fact, and you'll be able to take over when you realize you're dreaming.

Don't feel bad. I tried to LD in a dream once and it didn't work.... now that's pretty stupid...

It happens, the first time i came to this site, i fell asleep that night, and said to my self "i'm dreaming" in my dream, (brakes didn't work on my 4 wheeler in the dream) and i realized it and i didn't go lucid..i woke up. i heard its quite interesting if you kill yourself while lucid in your dreams, i heard you could go straight to AP (Astral Projection) intresting? heh. Not sure though...gonna have to try it sometime. (sorry about my blabbling...*goes back to bed*)
