      Having Trouble Getting Lucid

      Poorly Written Post Inc

I've been keeping a dream journal and trying to remember my dreams, and it has been working out lately. But recently i read something about being able to become lucid through sleep paralysis, so i thought i would give that a try.

Basically what i was told to do is, lay in my bed on my back staring at the ceiling, something like Body asleep Mind awake. So anyways i try this for a while, and i'm getting a little frustrated, but know that things like this take time.

The last time i tried it, it took about 15 minutes? or so? and my body started to feel weird, like a heavy'ish blanket was being laid on top of me. I read that this was normal, and that by this happening you should be able to have an out of body experience, and then step back into your body having created a dream, and know that you are in complete control. Something to that extent.... And i guess i feel like i can almost attain it, but something is holding me back. And i usually just end up moving a body part, ruining the whole thing.

      Any tips?

      TL;DR

Feel like i can attain Sleep paralysis, but feels as if something is holding me back right before i do.

Hey, first of welcome to DV, or at least for first posting Well, How is your dream recall first of all? But as far as your SP method, just keep relaxing through it. When your body moves, its your mind testing to see if you are still awake. You need to just NOT move. You are sooo close! Just keep at it.

Yeah, I agree with Barbizzle on that. I suggest that you to relax and stay completely still until you're POSITIVE that your body is asleep and you're dreaming. When doing a WILD (Wake-Induced Lucid Dream, the technique you are using), it will be "blatantly" obvious when your body falls asleep. You will feel this sudden surge of energy (for lack of better words) rush through you and feel like you are falling through your bed when consciously making the transition from wakefulness to asleep. When you move before or during this process, it seems that you're letting you body know that you're not asleep. So I suggest you wait until you experience these sensation first before you try to move your dream body.
I don't know why people are always talking about rushing into a dream scene, I think that makes one more likely to awaken themselves if they're not fully asleep.

that frustration means you are but a step away! ignore that impulse of the body that says "just give up it's impossible and go to sleep" - laugh at it and say ""hehe, I'm almost there!"
