Hi to all, and a small question

I figured I'll introduce myself before I go posting anywhere else.

I'm an American high school senior with a recently renewed interest in dreams and lucid dreaming. I've known about LDs since middle school and had my first in May of 2005, and a few after that, but by the beginning of high school I had lost interest. Now that I'm in a less stressful position, having just finished applying to college, I've taken up the... hobby, I suppose you'd call it, again. I'm hoping to build up my dream recall and controlling abilities again, and to converse with like-minded individuals

As for my question: in my experience occasionally looking through the forum, it seemed like there was a high ratio of younger people (≤16) posting. Is that true? For people who have been here a long time, about what is the average age of active DVers?

Emotional maturity of course matters infinitely more than physical age, so I'm just curious. Thanks!

Hello and welcome to DV. I am not sure about how many old people are. I myself am 21 and I am taking care of the college life. Fact I start some computer classes this month Got into LD a while back and have since then turned it into my passion sort of speak. Everyone spends 20+ years of their lives asleep. Why not get the most of those 20 years you know?

However I have to say so far if the majority of people are younger then 16 I am quite surprised because none seem to come off that way. Few seem to have trouble with English but I mostly assume that is because English is their second language

Thanks Sotik... and wow @ your signature. Having your first LD a few days after learning about it... it took me almost a year! Although I guess not all my focus was on it. Still, you must be naturally talented somehow.

Thanks. Yes I actually was having lucid dreams before I learned what a lucid dream was. I never could control them and my recall was to be honest horrible. Remembering only 1 or 2 dreams a week. Yet I still had dreams where I know I was dreaming but just kinda sat back and let everything happen, or if I hated the dream I would wake myself up. However since I got into LD I am remembering 3-4 dreams a night and have fun controlling my lucid dreams when I have them

      Haha,

In case anyone doesn't know it's a susuwatari (soot sprite) from the Hayao Miyazaki movie Spirited Away catching kompeito... I love that stuff

      Welcome
Technically, you've gotta be 15. Some people act like they are 8, others 98, as you mentioned. Yea, there are a lot of young people. I think maybe that turns off the older members. As long as people are mature, I honestly don't care but it would be nice to have more mature, wise, educated members than the highschool students that are so common and the college students who are too similar to me

Hello, first of all welcome to Dream Views. It's a great site, and if you ask a question everyone will be glad to help you. You're right in your observation that most people here seem to be fifteen, sixteen, (or underage... *cough* been there done that!) I myself am fifteen too. Yep, so basically the first thing you'll want to do if you haven't already is make yourself a dream journal. Written or online, it doesn't matter. That will help with your recall tremendously, especially when you are new and motivated. I went from never remembering tasting, touching, hell even feeling anything (a silly concept now), in a dream, to remembering doing all that in only a matter of weeks. Also, go to the tutorial section to read up on some basic techniques. Going into chat (top right corner, I've heard of people missing it) into the LD Chat room, just ask away and you can learn a lot. Most of all just have fun with it, and I hope I'll be seeing you around.

And Shift... so you don't like us 'youngins.' I'm making myself a mental note of that. JK of course!

EDIT: Oh man, I didn't pay attention to the date. This thread is already old!
