      A little introduction

      Greetings, everybody!

I am a writer from Sweden, and I have been experimenting with lucid dreams for about half a year (but never posted on any lucid dreaming forum before).
I think Lucid dreaming could be an awesome way to try out scenarious and create environments (and imagining "being" your characters, awesome).

Anyway, since most of my works have a kind of dreamlike quality to them already. I have gotten it into my head to write something where lucid dreaming and dreams play a major role. However, I want to make it fairly realistic in the desription on how to achieve it (even if there is some mumbo jumbo thrown in for story purposes), and so I came here in order to learn more about it.

This seems like a serious site and forum to learn about this...and the members seem nice!
So I hope you will excuse all my question...I am not here to "steal" anyones story but rather to gather inspiration and further my own knowledge of dreams...

What else? Oh, I guess I should tell you all about my own experiences with lucid dreams. I have had lucid dreams a couple of times before I even knew what it was, but didn´t know that I could control them. Shortly after that I began to research it and kept a dreamjournal.

After that I have experienced both lucid dreams, false awakenings (recognising them) and sleep paralysis. WILDs seem to work best for me, even if I often wake up by "pulling out" once paralysis sets in or once the lucid dream starts.

Something I would like to try out in a dream is to grow into a giant. This mainly because I haven´t seen it suggested anywhere else, and I think it would be cool to see if you lose you reference (and lucidity) high up or if the feeling of your feet and the rest of the body is still "there", so to speak.

I take it easy with dreams, seeing them as a sort of adventure. Even being paralysed was quite an experience...even if I thank God that I wasn´t more scared than I was.

I am actually more interested in being good at dream recall and making dreams more realistic... I also keep paintings of my dreamsigns which I draw when I have the time, in addition to my journal (haven´t seen this anywhere else, either).

That is all I guess, see you all around!

      Smile

You sound like an interesting person... You seem way more advanced then me... But this is my first week in this world...

For an idea of story, you could have someone find out about Lucid Dreams and as they try they would get stuck in one... So they would be stuck in a Dream-ish world and would have to ask for help to the people... That's just an idea...

You could have a DC (dream character) exchange places with the Dreamer so the DC would take possession of the Real person's body and the real person would be stuck in the Dream World until he finds out how to come back in his body...

These are just to give you inspiration to something.. Sorry for my lack of imagination today

Anyways, good luck with this! You are well welcomed in this forum

It sounds like you are already a pretty awesome dreamer. Have you found much practical inspiration from your adventures yet?

Like you, I've found dreams to be a limitless well of ideas and inspiration. My favorite dreams are the ones where I am lucid enough to direct the subject matter, but involved in the dream enough to feel connected to the action emotionally.

Be sure to post any story ideas you come up with. I would love to hear them. You can always start a dream journal online to get other people's input on your dreams, drawings, and stories.

I've always thought we should all go in together and publish a book of short stories from our favorite dreams. I end up drawing up scenes from a lot of my dreams, anyways.

WolfDreamer, be sure to stop by the artist's corner, too. There is a thread stickied there about drawing your dreams, and many more where people have posted poems, paintings and stories.

      Thanks everyone for your welcome!

I am afraid that my introduction made me come across as a little more experienced then I actually am, which was not my intention. My lucid dreams are usually short (longest, with control, is about two minutes).

Robotbutler, that idea about a collaboration dream book seem interesting, and I´d be glad to try and see that it gets done, if enough people are interested.
