      First Lucid Experience (Not Good)

      Hello,
This will be an introduction of myself and lil story to go with it. Im 17 years old and i live in Australia. I enjoy rollerblading, comedy and having just a general good time. I suspect i will be spending a bit of time on this forum, because just yesterday i heard about lucid dreaming

I kind of just stumbled accross the idea today when looking up about hallucenations, i found it interesting that eyes could see that didnt really happen. Anyway, i was very skeptical of this lucid dream thing until last night. But i decided to try it out with an open mind, i looked up a guide on how to do it, and followed some steps.

I wrote down a few of the steps, and i stared at my hands and said to myself for maybe 5 minutes "While im dreaming, i will see my hands and realize im in a dream". Id also read something else about it, it was about mirrors, and the advice given was to try to avoid looking at them.

Now i fell asleep, And i know i was normal dreaming at first, but in my normal, uncontrolled dream, i looked into a mirror. And a connection was made instantly from some text i read "You may appear blurry in the mirror", and i was. And i thought "Oh wow, this is a dream", and the second i ended that sentence i experienced something really freaking scary.

prior to looking into the mirror, i remember talking to a man (Stewart) that i live with, and entering the bathroom. When i looked in the mirror and noticed i was dreaming, instantly i became lucid.... But just as quickly It was almost as if my brain said "WTF??? You shouldnt know that" and i lost complete control. i couldnt control the fact i was having a seizure (in the dream, not in RL), and everything was blurry, not just me in the mirror. I fell to the ground, and im trying to gasp for Stewarts aid, but i couldnt, i was unable to speak, i was unable to think, just sheer terror came over me, complete helplessness... I was trapped by this unknown power that was saying with its actions (such as blurring my vision and forcing me to convulse) "NO, this ISNT going to happen" Then i woke up.

It was so incredibly vivid, that it has nearly brought be to tears, and im a teenage boy... not trying to be sterotypical, but i dont cry very often from being scared of something, but this was truly horrible.

I had no idea ANYTHING would happen the first night trying.

      First of all, .

Well, aside from the dream seizure, you're one of the lucky ones. A lot of members here have to wait weeks, even months for their 1st LD. Not to mention you got Lucid from looking in a mirror, which just happens to be a common Dreamsign due to the fact your image was distorted.

By the way you put it, it sounds like the dream took advantage or you. Maybe it did, maybe it didn't. That just how it sounded to me. But the dreamworld is a strange place. Even stranger is the influence your subconscious has over that world. But fear not! Not all Lucid experiences are like this. If you want to try again, and the same thing or something similar happens, stand up to your subcon. Remember that it's you're dream, and you are in control. It may sound easier said than done, but the idea is to just do it. Don't hold back.

Who knows? Maybe now everything may be a bit easier since you know what an LD feels like, even if it was for a second.

If you have anything else on your mind, don't hesitate to ask.

      Thankyou
I appreciate your advice. I guess i might have been so startled to be in an LD, it scared me a bit lol. If i can manage to do it again, ill definently try to take control and stand up to the subconciouss...

I have been wondering about some of the abbreviations on this forum, and was wondering what they meant... WILD, DILD, and there is more, but i cant remember them atm...

Yeah, we do seem to have a lot of them. However the main ones you need to know are these. They also come with links to their respective tutorial. Of course, there are others, and the full list can be found here. There should also be links to respective topics there as well.
