Thread: Interpreting the Dream WITHIN the Dream

Last night I had a lucid dream in which I tried to interpret the dream while it was occurring.

My band and I were playing the gig (that were supposed to be doing tomorrow night) and everything was going great, then when the gig ended my entire band ran off and I couldn't find them ANYWHERE. I was looking all around the concert hall and they were nowhere to be found.

Then it suddenly dawned on me that I was dreaming. I did a reality check just to make sure. So I started shouting at the top of my lungs for my subconscious to reveal to me what the dream meant. Then words started flashing all over the walls, but they never stayed the same. I couldn't read them. The second I would examine one word or letter, it would morph into another.

I was begging the subconscious to tell me what it meant. A fan girl ran up and asked for me to sign her shirt and I told her "Why? This is a dream? Haha, you want to have dream nookie?" Then she just laughed. I gave her the sharpie back and floated down the hall. I was trying to get to the bottom of it and find out what the dream meant, but never did.

Any ideas as to what it could have meant when my band disappeared?
Anyone else have a lucid dream in which they were trying to interpret their dream?

Oh, P.S. I had another lucid dream the night before haha. I'm telling you. Tibetan Dream Yoga works.

It is cool that you stayed lucid and focused on your task for so long.

Several times while lucid I have wondered what meaning there might be behind the dream I'm having. Usually wondering this causes the dream to stop having a plot from that point forward. However, sometimes I do a decent job of interpreting the dream from inside it. But other times my dream logic is so fuzzy I come to hilarious conclusions.

Your band ditching you could mean a lot of things. Only you can really know what might make sense for your life. Maybe you are having some tension between you and other band members? Or you are afraid of your relationship with the band members going badly? Or you just don't like to get lost?

Being unable to read words and letters in a dream (and them changing while you try to do so) is classic! It can be so frustrating!

Congratulations on your lucid dreams, Jackalhead. The one you described sounded pretty intense. I've never really wondered about dream interpretation, though I'll probably try this the next time I get lucid just for kicks.

I'm rarely lucid enough to analyze the dream while it is happening. It is not something I actively try to do, but maybe I should. Normally, I like to get a little caught up in the dream to see what develops.

seeker28- Good interpretations! That does make sense. Yeah, there has been some tension in the band recently, but after the gig last night everything pulled together. Your interpretation was dead on.

Haha and by the way, I've also been doing subliminals while I'm on my computer, additionally to the dream yoga. Works pretty darn good. Had another LD last night.

Daniel Danciu- Thanks, Daniel. :] Yeah I got the idea from a book I am reading. I wouldn't have thought of it otherwise. It's a pretty insightful experience.

Robot Butler- Yeah man. Sometimes I am just lucid enough to have fun. Other times it's like MEGA lucidity. The LD I had last night was like 75% lucid. Didn't remember to interpret it.

Y'all- The LD I had last night I was in my old high school when it just suddenly dawned on me I was dreaming. I was with a lot of old friends, both boys and girls. I told them all it was a dream, even though I knew they were DCs. We were walking through the halls and just messing around everywhere we went. Eventually we came to a place where the Highschool connected to a mall. The girls went in and the guys said they didn't want to go in there. I didn't know why, so I seperated from the guys and went with the girls. When I got in there, it turned out it was Victoria's Secret. I temporarily lost lucidity here, even though I remembered I could fly. Cos I was flying around trying to tell the girls to hurry. Haha I remember feeling really awkward. If I had held more lucidity, this wouldn't have phased me... and the inner devil might have come out.

So I finally just left when I regained lucidity and explored some more. I remember the dream continued on for another half hour or so and I got kinda scared cos I wasn't waking up. I decided I wanted to make sure I wasn't dead, so I tried to wake myself up. At first I thought I did, but it was just a FA. Three FAs later I finally woke up. I seriously thought I had died in my sleep for minute there.
