      scared of myself?!

For the past 5 years or so I have had at least 2-3 nightmares a week. I usually remember a few of the most vivid and disturbing ones because I sometimes wake up during them. The reason that I am scared of myself as the title says is because in many of my dreams I am either killing several faceless people or am getting chased and hunted by a murderer/ghost.

The following are my most disturbing dreams in random order:
      1. asleep at night in my room, 3 hooded nuns in black float towards my sleeping form, I awake and fight them off, they melt into the carpet. The floor cracks open and Satan comes forth and I fight him off using a flashlight and a cross.

      2. i am crucified in the middle of a desert and the sun seems stuck in the sky at the dusk. A starving scraggly dog is walking up and down hills towards me. I have a feeling of dread that he is going to eat me

      3. I am on the corner of two streets on my block, I am chopping faceless people's bodies up with a chainsaw. They just walk by and I just chop them up. My mom comes out of the front door saying "Stop starting fires!" I say, " I'm not the one starting fires." She says, " If you aren't then who is?"

      4. I am a burn victim in a hospital. A huge janitor works there. Many people in the burn unit are disappearing during the night. I figure out that the scary janitor is the one taking the people. He only takes them when they make eye contact with him. That night i get in a wheelchair and go down the hall following a bloody trail to a basement. There I see him pick up a man and bash his head in the ceiling like a rag doll and continue to smack his bloody body on the walls of the hall.

      5. I am on the road with my father. We stop at a gas station and while buying snacks I look out the window to see a little girl in a white gown staring at me. I point this out to my dad and we leave promptly. As we get into the car she turns and starts walking in our direction. We start driving and she is chasing behind us a an unnatural speed. My dad hits the breaks and hits her. We drive to a hotel. My dad tells me that there is no way that she can find us. Later that night I awake to a feeling of dread. I know that she is at the door of the hotel. I look out of the peep hole to see her staring at me through it. I run to tell my father and he again consoles me that she cannot get in the room. I go back to sleep reluctantly. I wake up again a few hours later to a white shape in front of me. I know that if she sees that I'm awake I will die. I spend the rest of the night pretending to sleep.

      6. I am in the mall. I have a golden golf club in my hand and someone steals it from me. I chase them down into an industrial style environment and find the person hiding in a squalid rundown apartment. I ask for the club and they say no. I pull out a shotgun and shoot their head off. Dream cuts to a police car with a purple see through bag with the body in it tied to another purple see through bag with the head in it. They are being dragged behind the car on the street.

      7. I am in a rocket ship and they shut the gravity off. I start floating around. Blood starts to flow from my eyes, ears, nose, and mouth. Its starting to get all over my clothes and everywhere. The gravity shuts off and I ask a man who works there to call 911, but he keeps dialing 811, 711 etc., on purpose. An old lady finally cuts in and helps.

      8. I am a camp counselor. Some of the other counselors have been decapitated. I am searching for the real murderer. When I finally feel like I have found the real killer I take a hatchet and chop off his head. I find out that I guessed wrong and get into a fight with the real killer.

There are more but I think that you get the gist. My question is, are these types of dreams normal? Do I have any reason to be afraid? I am getting sick and tired of having only bad dreams. I want to know that I am not alone and that I am somewhat normal.

If they've been happening for five years, I'd say that now is probably a good time to try and get rid of them. Lucid dreaming can help with that, not only with you recognizing when you're dreaming, but also getting you thinking about what might be causing these.

Typically, what kinds of movies do you watch? What books do you read? What video games do you play? What do you and your friends talk about? Are you easily angered? Do you tend to hold grudges against others? How do you feel about these dreams when you wake up (angry, scared, apathetic, annoyed, etc.)? Have you ever tried getting them to go away? Is there any reason you can think of that these dreams are appearing?
