Wink Just starting to become Lucid

Hey guys!! I just regisgtered to this site today, and I think it is AWESOME that there is a lucid dreaming forum where you can find people interested in these things..

I think dreaming is such an important part of our lives ( well it is like half our day) and so many people choose to just ignore it or forget about it.

In the past year or so I have become very interested in dreaming, and lucid dreaming. My brother graduated from neuroscience, and he started getting me really interested in everything about dreaming.

I started out writing down my dreams for a couple months or so, and just really starting to try to have lucid dreams.

I experienced my first lucid dream after about a month of recording my dreams.

Every time I would start to experience that I was lucid, I usually get really excited or rush into things too fast which make me instantly wake up....

Last night I had my first truly amazing lucid dream, I became really relaxed and I was doing truly amazing things....

I always do reality checks... like checking time is one that always works for me. But I always go too far like asking my dream characters stuff about dreaming , and they usually either dissipate or ignore me... Is anybody able to do this?

Anyway.. so my question is... when I first realize that I am lucid, how can I be calm and not awaken myself? Any hinters? It seems like I can become lucid, but it usually goes away pretty fast!!!

      Welcome.

Be sure to read some tutorials.

As for your question, for me when I had my first I was so excited, but I thought to myself, "Be calm, Be calm. Over and over. Until you calm down.

      Worked for me.

Nicely done, sounds like you are well on your way, but as cal1um132 said, it couldn't hurt to brush up with the tutorials. They're all written by staff and very accurate and helpful.
