      Question Any advice...?

Hi, i'm Dream scaper. - and I am an alcoholic.

Anyway..... I'm new to these forums and relatively new to Lucid dreaming. I found out about Lucid dreaming when I watched a Tv programme a few weeks ago on the BBC, called Horizon: Why we dream? (I think it was called that - it was something like that anyway). Basically, I started researching about Lucid dreaming about a month ago, and I started doing reality checks about 2 weeks ago. I only really became fully serious about it 5 days ago, and I tried my first WILD last night.

I was unsuccessful with the WILD, but I feel that I got quite close to achieving Lucidity. I did what I was supposed to - I woke up after about 5 hours sleep, sat up for about 30mins drinking a glass of Coke, and then settled back down and started relaxing. I spent about 20mins (i think) watching the HH and HI, and making sure that I was concious. A few minutes later I felt this kind of vibrating sensation through my body, and I was sure I was about to reach SP, but then my god damn dog must have got into my room because she woke me up. (stupid dog ). I tried settling back down, but by his time I was too awake.

Anyway, so basically when I started to feel like I was getting closer, I started thinking about what it is ACTUALLY like to have a Lucid dream, and now I have a few questions. I would be very aprreciative if there are any experienced Lucid dreamers who can answer these questions:

      1) What is Lucid dreaming really like? Is it really as realistic as real life? Also if it's so real, wouldn't you get scared when people started attacking you in a dream?

      2) Also, how close do you think I came to achieving Lucidity; and what tips could you give me to prepare myself form my next WILD (tonight).

      3) Lastly, what do you do in your Lucid dreams. I know you can do anything (apparently), but what do you find doing fun?

I'm sorry about the long post, but I hope you will be kind enough to answer my questions. in advance.

      Welcome to Dreamview

      1) Yes, Lding is as real as in real life, although I've only had one it felt like real life.

      2) I can't really answer because I haven't had much expierence with this.

      3) I find basically Explore, find out things, try and climb a mountain, when I get the chance I'm going to try and climb mt.everst.

For more information about Lding check out the tutorials.

      Good Luck.

      1) While having a lucid dream, it feels very real(to me). I can't tell the difference between waking life and my experiences in the dream world.

      2) You say that you were going through hypnagogic hallucinations, and so yes, you were close It sounds like you were handling things pretty well, so I could only suggest doing this with your door closed and by yourself to rid of the distractions. Also, when the dream scene begins to formulate, just relax and let it settle in around you. If you try to push yourself to hard, you might wake up, though if you're not aware, you'll fall asleep.

      3) I agree with ca1um, exploring is very cool. There's so many amazing places you can go..also, I personally like magic(wand and everything), it's crazy fun ^.^

      1) yes its like real life, but it also depends on how vivid ur dreams are and how well u recall them. For me they're very real, but then again when i wake up i know it was just a dream lol

      2) u were almost there. if u manage to stay awake during HH then ur almost there and just gotta continue what u were doing.

      3) i like flying and learning things that i do in real life like skateboarding and drumming. well i've only had 2 so far so those are the things i did
      I don't have a signature

      Or do I?

      1) Depends on the dream, if your just barely in the dream (you might be just slipping out of it) then it wont be very real. Get really sutuated, solidify the dream, and it will become very real. As real as a dream can get, anyways.

      2) I have lots of advice, but I'm not going to write it all. Basically, make LDing a lifestyle. If you want to get good, you cant just practice it for a bit and be set. Think of it as if you have no other option, just keep doing it. Reality checks and writing down your dreams always, no matter what method you use.

      3) Flying was always my favorite. But really, I like to do anything. Explore, like somebody said above. When you get to the point where you have many LD's every night, eventually you stop doing it for the "fun" part and you just try to see whats possible. I still have fun, but most of it is just experimenting now with things that other people dont do in LD's (or at least, I have never heard of it)
