      Hello

Hey, I'm new here. How's it going?

I've been surfing the site for about a week now, not sure if I wanted to join up. But you all seem like a fun bunch, so...why not?

I found out about lucid dreaming a long time ago (a news story about it I think), and several days ago I decided to look it up...that led me here.

Anyway, I've never had an LD before...I'm still working on it...I realized I was dreaming the other night and went to do an RC but woke up...

That's the closest I've come...Though one night, after laying in bed for a seriously long time (Takes me forever to get to sleep) I started hearing things, stranges beeps, loud bangs, a cat shrieking. I thought they were real until I got on here the next day and read about all the crazy things you can see and hear before you fall asleep lol...

Yeah, so...can't wait to have my first lucid dream and many more after that. I'm excited to be here.

The thing you experienced is Hypnogic Hallunciations. (Spelling)
This was probably the onset of Sleep Paralysis.

Anyway hope you have a lucid soon.

Anyway a question. Do you keep a Dream Journal and do you do Reality Checks throughout your day.

@ca1um123: I actually started keeping a Dream Journal a few days ago, and I do reality checks frequently. The though just pops into my head and I do it.

@12g951ad: Thanks for pointing those out. I've actually looked through most of them over the past week, but it wouldn't hurt to go back through.

@Shift: Hmmm, I never though of it that way...guess I'll have to change the sig
(LDs: 1 LDs where I've done anything at all: 0) lol...

While I'm thinking about it...this whole thing seems to good to be true really, I guess I'm sorta in a state of awe...I'm mean, the chance to do anything at all is a pretty big deal. My question here is, are they really that great? Are lucid dreams as real as real life? Do you forget them just as easily as non-lucid dreams? Is there a catch?

I know a guy who has LDs alot, but he says he always has trouble moving around, like walking is extremely hard. Is it always like that?

Yes lucid dreams do infact seem exactly as real life would.

Remembering LD's is just the same as normal dreams to remember. Although some lucid dreams can be more memorable.

Anyway as for your friend. Him not being able to walk might be a sign that the dream is not stable enough or hasn't got enough clarity.

Maybe get him to shout out "Clarity" or "I'm dreaming" in his dream. Or tell him to examine an object in his dream.

      Congrats on the first LD.

Hello, and welcome to DreamViews Funkyoshi! Congrats on your first lucid, and I hope you have many more to come! I'd advise you to keepy a dream journal if you don't already, as well as have a look at the tutorials section of the forum. There are lots of good resources there, and I hope you take advantage of all that information we've put together to be used for that sort of thing!

Enjoy your stay, and happy lucids.
