      Popped my cherry

So I stumbled upon this site as well as a page on instructables about having LDs. Wouldn't you know it, the same night I have my first lucid. Being as I didn't have enough time to right it down I am going to recall it here.

It started with me lying in bed hearing weird noises. I have a very active imagination and this has happened in dreams before where there are demons or ghosts or whatever lurking in the shadows of my home. In many of the dreams I end up confronting these characters in adrenaline fueled fear. So as I am lying in bed I hear these same similar noises and again I start feeling some anxiety. However, once the anxiety kicks in, I manage to realize that this same set of circumstances has happened before, albeit never in real life. It is at that point that I become partially lucid. I move the covers aside and get out of bed. I can still hear noises coming from down the hall and as I am getting out of bed I realize that everything in my room is cast in a dark blue hue. I akin it to being in a dimly lit room and wearing blue tinted sunglasses. I walk over to the bedstand and grasp the lamp in my hands. I have a fleeting thought of how real the lamp feels in my hands and then I turn the switch. The bulb lights up but then I realize this is not having much of an effect on the surroundings. The bulb is clearly glowing but the light does not seem to be reaching the rest of the room.

Next thing I know, I am lying in bed again. This time I am already partially aware of my lucidity. Having perused this site I remember something about doing reality checks. But then I decide to start talking. In past dreams I have had, I always seem to have trouble talking. I have figured out the reason for this as when I try to speak in my dreams I usually end up also talking in my sleep. More often than not I cannot talk very well in my dreams because my sleeping mouth fails to actually talk and usually it becomes a mumble of some sort. This time is no different as I attempt to speak and it comes out in a slurred and incoherent manner. This triggers some additional lucidity having recognized these circumstances in past dreams. I come back to the thought of doing a reality check. I have two ideas to either poke myself in the cheek or bite my arm. As I recall, somehow I make the movement to do both at the same time. I don't remember actually doing either task as the next thing I know I am walking down the hall of our house. I walk out into the living room and from the level of light in the windows it appears to be in the morning. I look over and see a brown blanket lying on the couch as if someone had been sleeping there. I also notice some furniture (was it chairs? i can't recall) that are out of place in the living room. They were arranged in a semi-circle similar to if there were friends over having a chat. I walk back into the kitchen and see my friend sitting on the floor playing with one of his kids. I ask him where my wife is and then everything goes black.

I find myself in bed again and this time I know I am lucid. I immediately throw off my covers and jump out of bed. I again walk down the hall and look at our patio door. I remember reading something here about being able to change the color of things in lucid dreams. I look out the patio and try to will our next door neighbors house to change color. It doesn't work. But then I remember reading something to the effect of "if you want to change the color you have to imagine in your head what it would look like with the changed color" I look back out the patio window and this time manage to change the color of the house to blue. I then turn around and look back into the kitchen. I imagine what our cabinets would look like if they were blue and the cabinets start to turn blue. Lastly, I do the same with clock on the dining room wall. Looking back I realize the clock was in the wrong place, but it did not seem out of place at the time.

It is at that point that I decide that I would like to have s** but realize I am alone in this dream. I try to will or "summon," as some have put it, a female companion but I am unsuccessful. But then I go back to the idea of imagining it in my head to make it happen. I say to myself, "there is someone in my bed" as I walk back to my bedroom. As I walk into my room I see a female lying in bed who looks very similar to my wife. I proceed to enter into her mouth and somehow she manages to says to me "so, that's how it's going to be?" (I can't help but crack up at this comment as I am recalling here). I manage to finish just as my alarm clock goes off bringing me back into reality.

So, there you have it. I am actually quite pleased that I was able to make an attempt at reality checks as well as change some colors and adjust the environment. It's too bad my alarm clock went off as I still seemed to be in the dream phase even after finishing which is contrary to what I have read about others who immediately wake up. Anyway I am excited to start experimenting some more and being able to develop these skills further. Thanks to everyone here for posting your experiences and sharing with others!
