I haven't experienced anything quite like this, but similar. There have been times when I've been laying in bed trying to sleep, but I hear voices talking. Sometimes loudly. Once I'd told them essentially that I could hear them, and for them to please quiet down or leave so I can't hear them. That quieted them for a moment, but then they started talking again. I told them that seriously, I could hear them, I needed sleep, and for them to shut up or leave. That got the message through to them that I could hear them.

Since I was trying to sleep, and am pritty sure I was still mostly awake, that was probably closer to a haunting than a dreaming experience. You can think what you want about that, but that's the closest I've experienced.

Either hypnopompic hallucinations, or you are having a false awakening. Learn to do reality checks and you will know for sure. You don't have to be in a state of sleep paralysis to experience hypnopompic hallucinations.
