      Almost WILD

I put on the ultimate lucid induction mp3 from this site and began. After 25 minutes of visualizing and not moving despite random itches on my face and arms (these suck) I successfully entered SP. Then I have a kinda excitement/ fear as the music was scaring me (I think the sp I was in hypognic state) I began to see a very fain glimmer of blue on my eyelids as the lake I was visualizing appeared to want to come into view. I started to loose the feeling in my body. But it all went away. It was either because of my excitement or the mp3 distraction.

      So:
      1. Does your brain make you itch on purpose to see if your awake?
2.Does moving your jaw, cheek/facial muscles, or stomach (Breathing deeply) effect your ability to WILD negatively?

Thats my experience thanks for any help. I hope to try a WBTW WILD with melatonin tonight.

I don't count these as true lucids because they where not very clear, but until I have my first real lucid these will do.)

Sounds like you were super close. I get that sometimes, too. I just randomly wake up halfway through the WILD. Sometimes I am able to slip back into the same state, and other times it wakes me up permanently. Be sure to do a Reality Check whenever you wake up like this. It could be a very convincing false awakening.

Trying it during a WBTB is a great idea. If you make it as far as you did last night, you will probably find it easier to enter a dream. It can be very difficult to enter a dream when you first go to sleep, because you are not close to a REM dream cycle.

I can't wait to hear how it goes

EDIT: Melatonin can suppress REM. Either take it early in the night so you get some REM rebound at your WBTB, or take a very small amount at your WBTB if you are having trouble falling asleep or relaxing enough.

One hypothesis by a popular member, Billybob, suggested that this was the case in his WILD tutorial(s). I've never come across anything scientific suggesting that this is actually true, and prior to his tutorial being posted in Dream Views I never noticed anyone really talk about these 'signs'- not regular posters, and not members posting WILD tutorials and guides.

I personally don't give the idea much merit, but people seem to love it and if it helps them on their way to WILDing because they think they've stayed awake past a certain point, good for them. On the other hand, just because there is no evidence or, most likely, that I personally haven't come across such evidence, doesn't mean that this isn't the case. Maybe he's on to something that no one has researched yet. Maybe I'm just not reading the right articles (doubtful though, there is not a whole lot out there and I have a lot of the popular literature on lucid dreaming and sleep and hypnagogia and still have not come across this. If anyone DOES know of articles where this is discussed please let me know the title!!), or maybe there are some not written in English.

Still, Billybob is an accomplished WILDer and I am not. I'd listen to his word over mine, even if it isn't true, because the ultimate goal of the average person is to learn to WILD, not to analyze every minuscule detail of hypnagogia.

Shift thanks for the in-depth reply I saw the tutorial just before I read your post lol.

And Robot_Butler THANKYOU SO MUCH!!!! You may have single handedly found the key to my lucid dreaming! I have minor sleep problems so I started taking melatonin on a regular basis to help me sleep. You said that melatonin can suppress rem therefore limiting vivid dreams. and thinking back the only time I've recalled my dreams in the past 4 months is when I've forgotten to take the pill or when I've slept in for long periods of time (REM rebound)

Well I may be making a big deal out of nothing, but this may be part of my answer to my bad recall. Hopefully the wbtb wild can solve this.

Thanks again shift and R_B for the tips and information I'll be sure to post my progress here.

      WILD x 3

Well today I tried to wild during a nap using a mix of seeker and billybob's tutorials. What happened was I went into the wild for 15 minutes reached SP and then failed. Angry, I RC'ed and was awake. I remembered reading somewhere that you could squeeze another wild off if you do it right after your first. So I laid back down, reached SP after 25 minutes, but this time I actually got the sinking and rising feeling of being pulled I failed this one too, I just left SP for no reason. Excitement maybe? Now I was just being stubborn I was so determined that I managed to enter SP for a third time, only to have it last for a few seconds. I did not get lucid lol.

      1. I got to SP, but I never saw Hypogonic (I know this is not a key thing) imagery or sounds, or even an approaching dream-scape. There was no indication of anything. It really just felt like I was an awake, but paralyzed person. Am I doing something wrong do I just need to keep trying?

      2. How should I react when i get to SP or start to see a fain dream-like image. What i do is at the moment I enter SP I say mentally breath "1" exhale "I am dreaming". But I think that my sudden shift from thinking nothing to mentally counting stops my SP, but if I don't count or do something 'll get excited and probably loose it anyway. Any tips for this?

      3. Do you prefer breath counting or the 61 point relaxation while wilding or another technique?

dude, I'm literally having the exact same thing happen to me right now! I'll lie there, for maybe 20 minutes but I count my breaths to induce it, it keeps you conscious, and i'll see blue things moving around on my eyes and my body will itch all over. I try my very best to ignore it but in the end, my eyes come awake from the tingly feeling behind them. It's really bothering me becuase I can't seem to lucid dream ever and it only disheartens me even more which makes me even more reluctant to try. Answers please?

Wow seems we're in the same boat my friend. Do you Reality check, get a goods night sleep, have a sleeping schedule, and keep a dream journal? Do you avoid caffeine and sugar like the plague in the evening? All of that (If you dont do it) plus being in the sun/ doing a p-physical activity will benefit sleep and dreaming.

I too want answers, but the above is what I know so far for general stuff.

i just started Reality checking. I look at my hand, my cellphone clock and I go to the bathroom and look at the mirror. it's pretty cold where I live but i'm outside as much as possible. i get a day of excersize every saturday. I also keep a journal and since i'm in school, I have a very restricted sleep schedule both on the weekdays and weekends
