Hello all! I've been dedicating a great deal of time to learning to induce LDs, and WILD has been one such technique that I find particularly interesting. With that said...
1) I've read that WILD should be attempted after about 5-6 hours sleep, because we do not dream outside of the REM period. However, I've also heard that this is a myth, and that dreams do occur outside of REM. Is it essentially useless to be attempting WILD before bed, or even during the day in a very dark setting?
2) My next problem lies with eye movement. I've gradually learned to control my closed-eye movements, but my problem is that I cannot reliably relax my eyes without them gradually (or sometimes very quickly) snapping open. I suppose this could be because the window, in front of my bed and to the right, is typically lit up from the streetlights/moonlight, just enough to be drawing my right eye open. I'm noticing that either I don't relax my eyes and they eventually open up, or I focus a bit on keeping my eyes squeezed close, this not only breaks my concentration, but my brow tenses, and eventually my whole face. Does anybody have any idea on how to deal with this?
3) Despite some valiant efforts, I haven't yet become lucid through WILD. I'm not too disappointed, but I'm concerned because I feel I have yet to experience any significant hypnagogic imagery, if any at all. Certainly nothing like some of the vivid colors and patterns I've read about which eventually transition into memory imprints, etc. Is this typical? Will it eventually just...'click' or is there something I can do pro-actively to improve my odds of becoming lucid through WILD besides just practicing? At the moment I'm following the basics; dark room, progressively tense and relax my muscles, count my exhales (or inhales, or both, or count backwards from a random number, I've also tried randomly letting my mind drift), staying completely still. I eventually reach mild sleep paralysis, and have hit heavy sleep paralysis a few times where I feel an intense series of vibrations and feel as though I'm dizzy/moving somewhere...falling in one case, but all I see is blackness for the most part, with the occasional patch of very bright, but dull colored light that forms usually when the room isn't completely dark anyway.
I've read many guides on the subject, and I hope I can continue to learn. Thanks, everyone, in advance for reading and replying, and hello!
