      Wild right before i sleep?

I have been trying to sp right before bed and continue on into a WILD. my question is is it possible? I read back to the SP and WILD tuts and they say its not. So what im asking is has anyone else? Trying to SP before bed has cut down my dream recall because i have less time to sleep. Is it worth it?

Well I get SP naturally and when I do it's very possible to WILD.. personally if your trying to SP for too long then i'd say your doing it wrong.

SP will kick in very quickly, you need to be really tired so your body shuts down faster than your mind... you'll get there!

Keep your mind active and tune into the stereogram.

Refer to this thread. It's got plenty of answers and such nonsense in it. If you have more questions posting here would probably be a good idea.

I've been trying to WILD right before I sleep. What I found is that if I was to exercise for 30minutes on a treadmill(fast walking), not only do I get to sleep much faster, I find that I get the vibrations much faster. For example, I used to try and WILD and would keep counting into 300 losing the counting ever once in a while, but, I would only feel some heaviness and numbness, never vibrations, etc... When I started to exercise and I made sure to do it before bed, I found that I got vibrations and somewhat strong ones right away. What this basically means and you've probably heard it before plus its already been stated in this thread, is you need to make sure that your body is tired when you get to bed. If you have a job and do some intensive exercise before bed, I am very confident that you'll get SP within minutes of hitting the pillow. All you'll have to do then is make sure to stay conscious through WILDing and you got yourself an LD

you should try it about 2 hrs before your normal waking time. I find that when I wake up at around 7-8am, and stay awake from 10 mins to 1 hr, i get a wild naturally, going from hypnagogic state to a dream, then hypnompompic state, get paralysis, and also lots of false awakenings.

It's not worth it, and I haven't tried it before. If you just want a WILD then add it with WBTB.

Thanks you guys! this has helped me alot! Every time i tried to SP i would always get to the partial stage but never the full SP. And this would usually take a hour! It is probably a.) drinking caffine before bed thinking it would help my mind to stay wake. b.) not being sleepy enough before going to bed.
Tonight i wont have a soda and ill work out right before i go to bed. THANKS AGAIN!!

Try it both ways, so you can see the difference for yourself. Whether or not you enter a lucid dream, it is definitely good practice. Just don't get frustrated if it doesn't work.

Think of it in relation to the way you normally dream, and forget about the WILD itself. Sometimes, if you are really exhausted or sleep deprived, you will start to dream as soon as you nod off. You might wake up 10 minutes later with memories of a full dream. However, most of the time, you black out for an hour or so before you begin dreaming.

When you WILD, you are just holding onto your awareness as you pass into whatever stage of sleep is coming. You can't really force yourself into a dream. You can only stay aware as you enter one. I've always assumed this is why some WILDs are successful after 5 minutes, while others keep you stuck in limbo for an hour. You are just lying there in a deep trance, waiting for a dream to hit you.

I guess that makes sense, the last statement I meant. I've had that before I think

Ok so I didn't drink any soda, did a couple pushups and jumping jacks, and a hot shower. I was feeling pretty drowsy before I went to bed. I definitley saw a difference in how long it took! But I never got to a full SP . But it has definitley helped me to realize wht I need to do for tonight! I'm going to work out more and skip my nap to get really tired. Thanks to everyone who posted on this thread!

It's np. Keep us informed how it goes! To give you an idea of what it took me to reach some vibrations(can't say they were intense, but, they weren't small either), I ran on the treadmill for ~30 minutes

Not to rain on anybody's parade here, but when you first go to sleep, there's two hours of non-dreaming sleep before you hit REM, and the first REM period of the night lasts an average of only 7 minutes, before you have to wait untill the next one, which is 15 to 20 minutes long, but 90 minutes away from the first one.

I guess it's possible, but is it really worth it?
I mean, that's 3 and a half hours of just sitting there... Will you even be able to stay aware all that time?
What if I told you that I am dreaming right now?
That your whole life is a lie?
That the laws of physics as you know them are incorrect?

Furthermore, what would you do if I told you I'm going to wake up as soon as you finish reading my signature?

You need several hours of sleep first. You can only have a dream when your seratonin levels are high enough, at night you have way to much melatonin.

That is normally true, but not all the time. If you have a wacky sleep schedule, or are sleep deprived, you can have a dream right away. Like you said, I don't know how you can predict these rare occurrences. Even if it is possible, it is not very useful.

I was more referring to the timing of your WBTB. Sometimes, if it is timed right, I will drop into a dream right away. Other times, I have to lie there in a trance for 30-60 minutes until I can get into a dream.
