A Dream Guide is a Spirit Guide [A counselor/protector assigned to a specific human being] active during LDs. It's an alter-ego or a DC used to hint to the dreamer that he/she is, in fact, dreaming.

A dream guide in your LDs is some stupid bullshit someone came up with to make lucid dreaming more difficult than it is. Whoever this person was, they decided that your dream characters are a direct link to your subconscious (whatever that means), and that there is ONE dream character in particular who is like the ultimate phone-a-friend and knows everything in the world- called your 'dream guide'. These are supposed to act like real people, being logical and etc.

By convincing yourself that only ONE dream character is capable of not acting like a retard, you severely limit yourself by drawing in all these doubts and expecting every other dream character to be a slobbering fool. As a result, you effectively make every dream character around you a complete moron and then waste dream after dream searching for an imaginary dream guide, when instead you could just realize that every dream character has the capacity to behave logically and sanely and that they will if you expect them to.

Surely, dreams are illogical, and crazy things happen in them. By expecting this to be the norm, you make it so that it IS the norm. Once you are lucid, you should understand that dreams are going to reflect your expectations and thought-processes during them. The more lucid you are, the more lucid your dreams are. Interact with your DCs, ask them how they are doing, engage in a conversation, and they should, all of them, behave normally, just like that one single dream guide would if you expected it of THEM.

Why can't you have a dream guide AND expect every DC to act normally and not like a moron?

To the OP, I've always thought of a dream guide as someone who will be able to answer more questions related to yourself than other DCs but I never thought that DCs would be dum as a results of this

I think what people mean by dream guide is someone who stands out much more than the others, for instance i had a dream recently where there was a tribe of indians, and the chief definetly stood out, he spoke very wise and held the respect of the group. To me that could be the ideal canidate for a dream guide. and I don't think if you have a dream guide everyone else is retarded. that's an outrageous accusation, especially for someone who's had 101 ld's...

That's precisely why I feel comfortable expressing my experiences and opinions, especially to the new and misguided.

I've always believed that Dream Guides know more about yourself than you do.

I'm not saying your other Dream Characters have to be completely stupid, but one of them (or more if you wish) will know things about you that you haven't really thought about.
