You're telling me you don't want to keep a dream journal because "your brother will make fun of you for having a diary?"

You need to grow up. Who cares what other people think about you?
You do this every fucking time.
      No sweat.
      No tears.
      No guilt.
You do this every fucking time.

it appears that your brother is preventing you from doing wat you want. no alarm, no diary? just start ur journal who cares.. if you really are that paranoid then hide it / only use an electronic diary. for the alarm, if you stop it quick enough he will fall asleep again damn quickly if he doesnt have to get up. dont be so concerned about ur brother lol

Express yourself with some dignity, having a dream journal is an important step.

As a beginner it will help you dramatically to contemplate in waking life if you are dreaming. The perfect environment is what you're trying to create, be as awake as you can be, and start building up dream signs and scenarios.
Everything can be a dream sign, just be aware and affirm the feeling that you are dreaming, and it will come to happen when you are asleep.

Also start going into sleep without chasing drifting thoughts, just the relaxing and tired feeling.

Avoid complacency with efforts and awareness in waking life, but don't take it too seriously, it's to set up the perfect setting for lucid dreaming and shouldn't affect what you do normally already - otherwise lucid dreams will not be what you wanted them to.

      Good luck.
You merely have to change your point of view slightly, and then that glass will sparkle when it reflects the light.
