On that note, what he said! It's probably the best method (he says as he's still reading through the rest of the site... damn there's a lot to take in), just condition yourself to do checks while you're awake, and they'll become subconscious enough to register when you're asleep. Even something as mild as constantly thinking "am I dreaming right now" or checking a light switch...
