I actually very rarely WILD without slipping out of consciousness multiple times, but thats how i have learned to initiate a ld. Try the wake back to bed technique. Sleep for 5-6 hours, wake up for 30 minutes to an hour, then try to WILD from there. You can read more about it in other posts. But whenever i WILD i use WBTB and i usually slip into part of a dream but i get used to snapping out of it and now i usually skip through a lot of hipnagogic imagery and SP as well. When i bring my focus back after losing consciousness i can pretty easily get into a LD by focusing on the vibrating sensation i feel and the buzzing. So just try different techniques. If you arent using WBTB (wake back to bed) then your problem might be that you are just too tired, or too used to falling asleep at that time.

Breathing is also an obstacle for me too, it often makes my vibrating sensations and buzzing sounds fade, but we cant stop breathing so just try to find a way to get used to it lol.

Like Mitch suggested, do a Wake Back To Bed. It is almost impossible to WILD when you first go to sleep at night. You could also try during an afternoon nap. You might have to figure out if you get a REM cycle in the afternoon, and when. Most people do.

You can adjust the timing of your WBTB to respond to how easily you fall asleep. If you fall asleep too quickly, stay up for longer. If you still fall asleep too quickly, try some green tea or B vitamins to keep you more alert.

The biggest mistake people make is attempting to WILD at night. Do a WBTB as people suggested.

I've tried to WILD at night unsuccesfully for 2 months straight, my first WBTB attempt and every single one afterwards resulted in lucidity.
