      Snakes biting me?

My name is Amber, I am 20 female (obviously). My boyfriend and I are in a very good stage of our relationship right now, we have been together for 11 months and cound't be any happier. Well I am taking good care of his 12 and 9 yr old children while he is TDY in california (yes, he is military).. Well a couple nights ago I had this dream that different colored/types of snakes were biting me all over my ankles and legs, I was feeling the pain and I wasn't scared until I started pulling their fangs out of my skin. And they just kept biting me, strinking me over and over.. I was standing in a bathtub? That's all I remember.. sorry if I did not give enough info..Anyone know what this might mean?

I've had numerous snake dreams, some where they attacked me, but most where they were just in the dream.

One I remember is where I was flying over a field, and snakes were snapping at me.

I've looked up interpretation of snakes in dreams, but I don't know if I believe anything I read.

My only real life connection with snakes is that I wanted one in the past.

I know that was no help, but if anyone can say why we have strange dreams like this, I'd be grateful.

I'd actually love to have a dream like that for a change. About the meaning of the dream, I have no idea. I don't really belive that dreams have a meaning like that... It's more like a part of your subconcious mind mixed up with different associations from recent events. I use this forum only to achive lucidity, nothing else.

I'm by no means an expert on dream interpretation, but here's my take on it.

I don't think that you can interpret a dream just by looking at something specific in the dream. For example, you couldn't just google the symbolism of snakes and expect to get an answer. However, I do think that dreams can give you clues about your waking life, but only in general themes. For example, say that someone consistently dreams of being chased. This is going to sound really corny, but it might mean that they're running away from something in their waking life. On the other hand, it could just be a recurring nightmare theme that means nothing more than that said person is afraid of being chased by monsters.

In your case I'd say don't worry about it. People have nightmares sometimes, and most of the time they're nothing more than that. Unless you have this dream a lot, or dreams similar to this, I don't think it's possible to give a valid interpretation.

Note that all of that was just how I think of dream interpretation. Some people believe that dreams have some sort of supernatural deeper meaning. I am not one of them, but I do know that you tend to dream about things you think about more. If you're looking for an actual interpretation, you should ask in the Beyond Dreaming board. I think there's a dream interpretation sub-board.

Hopefully that was at least mildly helpful.

P.S. I've found that nightmares work wonders for becoming lucid.

Well honestly the most common thing that snakes represent is a sort of phallic symbol... So it's not uncommon for young girls and such to have such nightmares. Seeing as you and your boyfreind are at such a great point then I certainly doubt that is the case, though.
