New to the board and lucid dreaming

      Hello all!

Just wanted to say hi and that I'm very excited to start lucid dreaming. I have never been able to remember my dreams very well. However, after hearing others talk about their interesting dreams, it made me want to remember mine.

I had heard of lucid dreaming in the past but never took the time to study or practice it. I read this website yesterday (the tutorial) and I started working on it right away. Throughout the day, I repeated to myself that I would remember my dreams. I also did several reality checks at work. When I went to bed last night, as I drifted off, I repeated that I would remember my dreams over and over in my head until I was asleep.

Last night I was able to remember three dreams! I didn't use a journal, but instead as I woke up several times throughout the night, I tried recalling the dream and the details over and over in my head until they stuck. I still remembered them in the morning.

      My dreams were as follows:

      1. I was playing frisbee in the park with someone who looked like a ghost (very transparent silhouette). Very short and uneventful.

      2. I was walking in a park with an umbrella. Very short and uneventful again.

      3. I was in an unfamiliar house and a very attractive girl approached me. I did some sexual things with her (not sure if it is appropriate to post the details on this board) and it was really nice. This is when I first realized that I was lucid dreaming because I was able to control what actions I took with her. I then walked into another room and told some guy about the experience. When I walked back out, there was a red-headed nerdy teenager dancing to some odd music. It was pretty funny so I just laughed. Then I woke up.

Needless to say, I wasn't expecting such drastic results the first night. I will continue to practice and hopefully it will get better with time.

Look forward to many future posts!

      Hello and welcome!!

Nice to hear you had a bit of success. I'm not sure if that was a lucid dream you had or not. If you were aware that you were in a dream then you were lucid indeed.

Be sure to get that dream journal going. It works wonders.

Feel free to ask any questions you have. We want to help you.

Best of luck to you and welcome to the forum.

I guess it was lucid because I knew it was a dream. The part with the girl was even better because I could control (to a certain extent) my actions. I was not in control in my other dreams.

I will work on getting a dream journal going. I kinda like the idea of trying to remember my dreams in my mind because I feel like that will make my dream recall stronger, right? I was able to do a pretty decent job last night.

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm already addicted to reading the posts!

It was lucid then. No doubt about it. However, with more practice, you will become much better and controlling the dream and also will experience much higher levels of lucidity.

You are right that going over your dreams in your mind will strengthen your recall. However, a dream journal will help you much more. It will take more work/time than otherwise but I think it is well worth the extra effort. Read this:
