is it possible to dream about lucid dreaming?

Last night I may have had my first DILD. I had a dream where suddenly I looked in a mirror and had chest hair (I'm a girl) and thought to myself, snap - I must be dreaming! I didn't do any reality checks, I didn't have much control or independent thought from the dream, I felt like it still just played out like a normal dream, and dream logic still applied but I 'knew I was dreaming'. Is it possible I have been thinking so much about lucid dreaming that I simply dreamed about it, but was not actually lucid? Or does it still count as being lucid? I have only had one other lucid dream and it was a WILD, so I'm not sure how it feels to suddenly snap out of a dream. Sorry if this sounds silly to you guys, as I said, I'm still new to this!

I understand what you mean, as I've experienced something similar to this. Although I think I did become lucid, though I quickly lost it, as I recall knowing that it was a dream at some point...but I didn't become aware. It has happened not only once, but twice.

Technically, you're lucid when you're aware that you're dreaming, while dreaming. Even if you lose your lucidity, no matter how brief, you were still lucid. I think that you were lucid, but you didn't have much if any control over it. You should wait and see what other, more experienced users say though.

Yes, it's definitely possible. I've dreamt about lucid dreaming without actually being lucid countless time.

thanks for the replies and the upcoming tutorial!

I was just confused because I knew I was dreaming, but still had no control? Maybe I was just at a really low level of lucidity and kept slipping out of it?

Probably, I would still count it as a lucid though.

It doesn't count as an actual lucid IMO, however, you're on the right track! It's stuck in your consciousness, and you're getting to the point where it is only a matter of time. Keep it in your thoughts, and keep doing the appropriate exercises (dream journal, reality checks, etc). But yes, it's possible. When I was learning the ropes (and even still now and again), I would dream that I was lucid dreaming even though I actually wasn't controlling anything, and I wasn't actually lucid dreaming. But as I said, keep doing what you're doing-you're obviously on the fast track to a sure LD.

Haha, I've done it alot aswell.

Once, a guy (sort of like a fairy type man, thing) was teaching me how to fly. He told me that I just needed to expect and believe that I would fly.
Then I commented that it reminded me alot of Lucid Dreaming that I had been reading so much about.

And another time, I dreamt I had lucid powers, and about trying to get them to work. Actually, that has happened several times. Like not long ago, I was running downhill, repeatedly jumping, trying to fly. I wish I actually was lucid :3

But yeah, definitely possible. I think the general rule would be that if you doubt it was a lucid dream, then it wasn't. It should be pretty clear when it actually is.
(Comming from a person who only have had 1 lucid dream ever. Don't listen to me.)
