Thumbs up I remembered my dreams last night! (first try)

I just started learning about how to lucid dream yesterday (!) - I'm a total noob. I know the first step is to learn how to remember your dreams. When I was younger, I'd remembered my dreams all the time but in the past 10 years or so, that faded and I barely ever remember them now.

Last night though, I told myself repeatedly while in bed, that I would remember my dreams and I put a journal by my bed. I didn't think I'd be able to wake up to record the dream so I set my alarm for 4.5 hours after I went to bed BUT I didn't even have to use it! During the night, I woke up 3 different times after having 3 dreams that I remembered and then wrote down. I don't think I've ever remembered 3 dreams in one night! I'm going to try it again tonight.

My dreams last night were pretty boring but I'm going to keep doing this for a few weeks to really get used to it before I try anything else. Anyways, had to share because I was pretty surprised that this worked!

Yeah, that same thing worked for me on my first try as well..

It was really surprising, especially because the method didn't seem reliable at all. It's worked every night since, too!
      Goals:

      [ ] Accumulate a substantial dream journal

      [ ] Gain lucidity in a dream

Yes, autosuggestion is a powerful tool, and every dreamer should at least try it a few times.

      Congrats on the great results!

      That's awesome!

I feel the same way. I'm really new to this.. but I've been having dreams that seem almost lucid.. but it's hard to remember everything. I guess I just need to practice on my technique for it to truly mean something and work for me. I know I'm in the right place for learning all about this stuff, though.

Your situation is sort of similar to mine. I can remember my dreams pretty well, but I soon forget them. I realize now that keeping a journal is a must. It's weird.. I had exactly three dreams that I remember from last night that I wrote in my notebook. Your post reminded me of my dreams last night..

I wish you the best of luck with lucid dreaming. It sounds so amazing and I think it could really change lives.

We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

      Spiral out. Keep going.

Thanks for the comments! I tried it again last night and it did work. I woke up after about 3 different dreams BUT I was just too tired to write them down so I forgot the first 2 and most of the 3rd one (which was super long and all took place in a huge castle, lol).

I think I need more sleep. It'll be good motivation to get a good 8 hours of sleep for once!

yea, autosuggestion works wonders. I've been telling myself to wake up at 6 for MILD, first try I woke up at 5:15 and fell back off, second I woke up at 6:20 remebering 2 dreams.
In general, 3 dreams in one night is pretty good for a beginner, keep at it.

Awesome Good to hear it worked for you. Think of all the fun adventures you will now remember, even in your non-lucid dreams.

      awesome!

it's all just shifting your thought processes to be more heavily centered around dreaming, which you seem to be doing. I've found that saying you want to remember a dream is one thing but actually wholeheartedly desiring to is another...regardless it sounds like you're well on your way!

I personally use autosuggestion all the time..

I did a little experiment on myself the past 3 nights:

The first 2 nights I decided not to do autosuggestion, meaning I wouldn't tell myself while laying in bed I would remember my dreams... Those 2 nights, I didn't remember a single dream.. Then, last night, I did autosuggestion. Telling myself I would remember my dreams in full detail and as well as remembering to do a reality check..

I ended up remembering 3 dreams, one of them being a lucid dream!

So in my opinion it works pretty well! I hope it works out for you so you can keep up the good work!

      Take care
